3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not too great, more like a beer tea, would like some of the older rotators to come back.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a medium copper color with a light white head. Aroma is spicy and resiny with a strong bouquet of hops. Flavor is much bolder than I expected. Good strong hop flavor with a definite spice flavor...anise, ginger, cardamom. Another impressive release from Widmer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear yellow golden color with a nice white head. Aroma is herbal tea and other spices. The taste is very interesting. It reminds me a little of a stone beer I had with Yams recently but thereís no yams here. All of the flavors mix together in a nice, somehow drinkable beer. Itís really surprisingly good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From bottle I forgot about ~1 year old and from memory. Foam spilled out as soon as I uncapped. Pours hazy copper with white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of malts and grains, floral hops, and chai tea. After slowly enjoying first sip Iím surprised how good it tastes. Starts malty grain followed by floral hop bitterness. The beer finishes with a chai tea that lingers on the palette. Spices I taste include ginger, clove, cardamom, chocolate, anise, and black tea. Very drinkable especially considering the age. Not really an IPA but still tasty.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head and decent lacing. Aromas of some dough and malts but pretty weak. Good bit of maltiness in this one with some rye qualities and some cinnamon coming through. Alcohol is masked pretty well but it does have some warmth when it hits the belly. Overall a decent offering but nothing spectacular by any means. Next...

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice spices on the nose, tea, reminds me of vienna sausages. Color of a traditional IPA. Average head. Taste is fairly round. Do taste some of the tea in the flavor profile. Unique, and kind of slipped in there, unpungent if thatís a word. Definitely something different. Enjoyable, but probably not the beer for everyone. Enjoyability 4/5.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear gold yellow with light white head and some nice lacing. Aroma of sweet malts and light spices. Very nice taste, the spices really help balance out the hoppy bitterness of an IPA. I liked this better than most IPAs.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours light amber. Clove and spice on the nose. Frothy head clings to the glass. Oddly sweet. Brown sugar. Spice. Bitter hops. The flavors don't mix well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
From tap. Orange color, with 1 finger head that sticks around for a while. Floral nose (not strong). Hops very present, along with some spices (maybe a touch of nutmeg?) along with a bitter finish. Ok.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Well this is a pretty fuckiní weird concept. A spiced IPA? The other day I saw an IPA brewed with lager yeast and didnít think it could get any weirder. Clearly, I was wrong. Luckily I got this one pro bono from my brotherís bottle shop. Poured from bottle to tulip:
It pours kind of a pear gold with a short lived finger of white head that fades to a ring. Pretty good lacing.
Donít get much in the way of spice in the nose... sprucey citrus takes control. Maybe a hint of garlic or something?
So, yeah... this is where it gets weird. Itís like a Christmas ale had drunken sex with a bottle of Goose Island IPA. This is utterly strange. Very intriguing and I do enjoy being challenged by a beer but this is pretty far out.
Overall, itís nice to see that Widmer isnít just gonna play it safe forever. Glad to have had the chance to try it.
