3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 HughConway (658) - Washington, USA - APR 18, 2012Consolidated reviews of a whole bunch of 12oz bottles. Pours golden amber, whitish head. Aroma varies - some tea, some spices, some pepper, some hops. Taste is hops modified by some of the above. Finish is smooth. Very interesting beer, not among the normal IPA range and definitely tasty. One of the better spiced beers I’ve had, but just isn’t my thing. Would probably be a good "crossover" beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (6065) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 14, 2013
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium fizzy white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, spice and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, peaches and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy and spicy aftertaste. Decent overall.

2/21/12 notes: bottle. Pours a light orange-gold, perfectly clear with a bit of a small white head. Aroma has strong notes of tropical fruit, lemon pith and subtle tangerine. Flavor is bright hops upfront, a bit of dried tea leaves, pretty subtle. Sweetens with some saltine cracker and finishes with a clean smack of bitterness. Fun stuff, though spicing could be more dramatic.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Jrwhitney6 (119) - - FEB 16, 2013
From tap. Orange color, with 1 finger head that sticks around for a while. Floral nose (not strong). Hops very present, along with some spices (maybe a touch of nutmeg?) along with a bitter finish. Ok.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 stevencon (275) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 14, 2013
From bottle I forgot about ~1 year old and from memory. Foam spilled out as soon as I uncapped. Pours hazy copper with white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of malts and grains, floral hops, and chai tea. After slowly enjoying first sip I’m surprised how good it tastes. Starts malty grain followed by floral hop bitterness. The beer finishes with a chai tea that lingers on the palette. Spices I taste include ginger, clove, cardamom, chocolate, anise, and black tea. Very drinkable especially considering the age. Not really an IPA but still tasty.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Braudog (5035) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - DEC 16, 2012
Bottle. This erupted with foam, but quickly settled into a muted-orange, hazy beer. There’s a bit of an herbal aroma that hints at something a bit different. Indeed, this beer drinks with a broad spectrum of crazy flavors -- my palate not nearly enough to pull the right specifics. I still get a west-coast-like hoppiness lurking beneath, but it’s mingled in with Saison-reminiscent herbs and spice. Can’t say I really like it, but appreciate the artistry and decent balance. Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks Brad.
The beer appears clear and golden yellow hued with a lasting white head that leaves good lacing on the snifter. The aroma is quite unusual for sure, offering spices and cracked pepper atop a resinous hop bill. This recipe was well executed and fun to sample, but there is only so much spiced IPA I could enjoy in a session. Interesting and worth a try. A small serving is plenty.
