SpringsLicker (1812), Tennessee, USA Aug 18, 2008 Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Mostly black with some ruby at the edges.
Light coffee aroma.
Light sweetness, not much complexity or bitterness.
Smooth easy drinking. Snojerk321 (943), San Diego, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 12oz bottle from BevMo Carmel Mountain. The aroma is of plum, and coffee. The appearance is a dark brown, almost black. The flavor is smooth, very smooth, yes even milky. Really liked this one. Alldaydrinker (457), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Jul 6, 2008 Pours a richy dark murky brown color with a small fizzy tan head that dissapates to near nothing. Nose of chocolate, mollasses and coffee. Initial taste of tons of chocolate, balancing roasted malt, candi sweetness, coffee and lactic notes. Mid palate displays some mollasses. Finishing sweet, light bitter hops and chocolate. Just enough sweetness to not overpower. Average palate duration. Medium body, decent viscosity with velvety smooth mouthfeel. Decent stuff. Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 19, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear, darker brown with a short-lived cap of tan head. The aroma was quite nice with sweeter chocolates, coffee, and caramel laced with milky sweetness.. quite sweet overall. The flavor had coffee, sweet chocolate, and milky notes at the core with light, tacky coffee bitterness surrounding.. the back-end found lots more of the same.. medium-length, sweet finish. Medium-bodied and extra-sweet on the palate.. decent flow.. low bitterness. Very, very drinkable. pootzboy (855), Calgary/ Kitchener, Alberta, Canada Mar 21, 2008 fairly fresh sample: bottled
Pours as black as a Divorce Lawyer’s heart...light sticky mocha cap...low carbonation.
Aroma is lightly sweet with large cocoa tones a whisp of grass.
Wonderfully sliky smooth and rich mouth feel and texture (lactose) lightly sweet but not cloying, coffee-coca. light but sufficient hop bittering...long finish where the sweet lactose-cocoa give way to a gradual bittering from hops and black patent malt chared astringence...wonderfully approachable stout....very drinkable
