Brewed with 6 different hop varieties and 3 different grains, including wheat, Upheaval will be a fitting tribute, not only to the bold Northwest-style IPA, but to Kurt and Rob Widmer’s unapologetic attitude in legacy of innovation.

Pours a hazy coppper with a thin off white head. Nice fruity aromas, apricot & citrus especially. Good amount of grassy hop bitterness on the end. Pretty well balanced by the malt. Nice.

Grassy nose, not terribly strong. Cloudy amber, fine floaties, thick head, some lacing. Grassy and malty, pencil shavings on the back end. Very lightly vegetal, but not too off-putting. Medium body, alcohol not very noticeable. Good grassy bitterness, fairly sessionable. Worthwhile.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Firestone restaurant glass From: VONS in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $8.99 (w/ VONS card) for a 6-pack Purchased: June 30, 2014 Consumed: June 30, 2014 Misc.: Bottled on May 1, 2014 Poured a caramel, orange, hazy color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy white head. Surprisingly couldn’t notice any bubbles coming up from the bottom. Below average amount of layered lacing on the sides of the glass. Average-to-above average retention on the top all the way down. Smelled a pleasant whiff of hops, leading with a sharp potent grapefruit/mango hybrid. Also a significant amount of floral hops, and some caramel, honey, earthy rye hops, tropical notes and wet Cascade hops. Tasted pretty much like I thought it would have, but boozier. Got earthy rye hops, mango, citrus hops, bitter grapefruit rind, light floral hops, faint pineapple, lime, some pine and caramel. To sum up the taste I’d go with bitter and boozy. Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter astringent finish. A bit like rubbing alcohol. I may have slightly overrated this one. Not bad, but not great.

Poured into snifter, a clear golden orange with moderate to light head and a powerful aroma of grapefruit. Bright nose, clean palette, wet finish, quite smooth, and well hidden 7%. Glad this is a new year-rounder. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. A- Juicy, citrus, bitter, piney. A- Amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Juicy, peaches, mangoes, tropical fruits, bitter, piney. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, juicy bitter finish. O- At first taste I thought this was a Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. Boy, is it ever full of juicy fruits on the nose and palate. This helps cut down on the bitterness and balances out the beer. Very refreshing.

Great flowery aroma and good pour. Definitely a beer for hop lovers with just the right amount of bitterness.
