COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with 6 different hop varieties and 3 different grains, including wheat, Upheaval will be a fitting tribute, not only to the bold Northwest-style IPA, but to Kurt and Rob Widmer’s unapologetic attitude in legacy of innovation.

355 cl bottle. Unfiltered IPA? Hmmmmm looks appealing. Orange color, hazed, short thick offhite head. IPA nose. Aroma is fruity grapefruit, bready, with buiscuits and caramel, hints of honey, a little doughy/yeasty. A slamming trail of green resiny hops leads the finish. Smooth taste, promintently bitter, Medium to full body, soft carbonation, long spicy finish. Excellent IPA.

Draft at SB. Pours a hazy dark amber with bright edges and a loose whitish head. Big sweet caramel nose with some sweet floral, piney, and lightly mango-y hops. Creamy medium body with moderate carb. Caramel base under a bit of a mix of floral/piney/fruity notes with a moderately bittersweet finish.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, malt syrup), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with notes of diacetyl, taffy. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Rough and clunky with a dirty aftertaste.

The color of beer between gold and copper, is present in the bottle yeast sediment. The aroma is bright and tropical mango, pineapple, lychee, and even something like that. Taste, of course, also the hop with the powerful noble bitterness and all these tropical fruits from the flavor level low enough sweetness, bitterness is balanced most of the Corn-grain nuances than sweetness. The consistency is soft and creamy beer, density is clearly visible. The finish is fruity oily, bitter and long. What can I say? It is canonical, right, striking the American IPA.

Maker: Widmer Brothers, Portland,Oregon, USA Beer: Upheaval IPA (bottled, 330ml) Style: American IPA ALC.VOL.: 7.0% "Widmer Brothers Brewing is located in beautiful and brew-friendly Portland, OR. Our publicly-held brewery since 1984] [employs over 150 people who are as passionate about quality craft beer as Kurt & Rob themselves." Colour: Light orange, slightly cloudy, medium white head Nose: Sweetish pineapple, floral hops, subdued medicinal notes Texture: Not watery, a wee bit oily, soft Taste: Pineapple and bitter grapefruit at first, strong floral hoppiness, not the least bit sweet, mild medicinal notes. Then, a tiny bit of sweetness creeps into the still dominantly hoppy taste, pineapple fruit stays. A bit resinous now, too. Finish is bitter grapefruit and orange peel. Moderately bitter (and not too long-lasting), still powerfully hoppy aftertaste. Impressions: Because of the dominant hops you won’t feel the 7.0% at first. But it’s on the softish side, with its pineapple notes, only a wee bit resinous. Not quite as impressive as I expected.

Bottle at Oak Barrel, Helsinki-V airport. Pours hazy golden with a little white head that leaves some lacing. The aroma displays prominent tropical fruitiness with especially orange and mango present. Taste is dryish, medium bitter initially but building toward finish. Very aromatic American hoppiness; tropical fruits and some grass. The palate is medium bodied, crisp and highly drinkable, moderately carbonated. Excellent fruity and hoppy IPA.

Citrusy fruity hops with heavy maltiness of caramel, biscuit, bread, in the nose Pours a very hazy golden Amber color, didn't realize this was bottle conditioned. Lots of yeast floaters. Small white head Very well balanced in flavor for an IPA. Betty and citrus hops dominate, but bready and caramel malts have a huge role. Medium bodied with medium co2, short lingering bitterness. Enjoyable IPA. Well balanced. I could drink a few of these without getting palette burnout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
