Brewed with 6 different hop varieties and 3 different grains, including wheat, Upheaval will be a fitting tribute, not only to the bold Northwest-style IPA, but to Kurt and Rob Widmer’s unapologetic attitude in legacy of innovation.

Poured into snifter, a clear golden orange with moderate to light head and a powerful aroma of grapefruit. Bright nose, clean palette, wet finish, quite smooth, and well hidden 7%. Glad this is a new year-rounder. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Murky orange, small white head. Nose is grapefruit, floral notes, biscuity malts, pineapple notes. Flavor is malt, oranges, peaches, pine, floral and caramel hints. Resiny bitter dry finish. On the simple side, but by no means bad.

Poured from 12 oz bottle a clear amber with slight orangey hues, with a white foamy head. Aroma offers up resiny pine hops mixed with orange and orange peel along with a mild sweet maltiness in that lingers in the background. Flavour profile includes strong citrus and pine hops up front with a solid caramel sweetness that keeps it in check. Hints of pepper and field grass come into play as well. Overall decent IPA, creeps on a double, but not quite.

We were disappointed when Widmer quit the Rotator series of IPAs in their product line. However, settling on the Upheaval IPA was an good choice. Pours a hazy golden amber with a thin head but has great hoppy and citrus tones. Being from Bend, Oregon ,we find that we will even choose this beer over our local favorites when shopping for 6 pack 12 oz bottles in the grocery stores.

Drought. Copper ref with small beige foamy head, very mild floral aroma, low carbonation, hoppy taste with very little hoos flavor, low carbonation, longish hoppy finish. Quite a balanced IPA.

Pours hazy golden with thick off white foamy head. The aroma is rich in grapefruit, pinapple, lemon and spicey orange. Taste is ever so slightly sweet before the rich medium to heavy dry bitterness of the hops come through. Enough of a noticable malt is there to back it up and is slightly grainy. Long dry finish on this one and a slightly oily mouth feel which then turns a little thin and watery. The head leaves nice lacing throughout. Very nice IPA!

fraternie (820) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 12, 2014
Crisp and dry, with lots of piney hops between the citrusy orange, pineapple, lemon and grapefruit flavors that are understated by traces of wheat and bread dough. ABV covered well, this lingers with spicy hops that turn a touch metallic through the finish.

Draft. Dark amber with off white head. Aroma and taste are citrus and tropical fruits with a sweet malt backbone. Rich mouthfeel. Not bad.

A pretty standard NW IPA, but I am starting to enjoy the style. March 28th, 2014.
