COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the classic French Farmhouse Ale, our interpretation gets its deep ruby red hue from a hint of caramel and dark chocolate malts. The citrus spice of Saaz hops provides a perfect balance and gives each sip a refreshing, peppery finish.

This beer is a bit too heavy for the style, and in my opinion it misses the point of a saison; it wasn’t particularly refreshing. There is a bit of fruit in the flavor, especially strawberries, but this was overwhelmed by the heavier malt flavors. No head. The aroma was very good - light, with a Belgian-like yeastiness and a bit of a floral scent.

Smells like apples and sour fruits and yeast. The flavor is interesting. I definitely get a bit of dark malts and some tart fruit - like pear or green apple. Finish is slightly tart, but not too dry. I feel like I am drinking hard cider mixed with a lager. It’s definitely a weird combination. Not bad, just... different.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown body with a small fizzy off-white head that faded very quickly. The nose is slightly earthy with some caramel and light chocolate notes. What’s missing seems to be any influence from the yeast, it looks like it’s filtered pretty hard, so I suppose that’s not surprising. Just a light hint of hops. The flavor is pretty far off from what I want in a Saison, it’s very hard and on the sweeter side. Lots of caramel flavor and a little chocolate malt up front. There’s a little bit of farmhouse yeast flavor on the finish, but not enough to really invoke a strong association to the style. Heavily filtered is a quality that just doesn’t belong in a Saison. Rather thick and sticky with too much residual sweetness. Fizzy prickly carbonation level. Gotta say this one was a fail for me.

12 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours a clear dark copper color with a thin creamy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of spice, caramel, bready malts. Almost reminiscent of cola. The taste is bread, nuts, spice, apple, stone fruits. Medium bodied. Meh.

on draft and poured our little dark amber color with minimal head...the aroma of a saison is there but yet mild..some light spice note...the flavor is average. its a mild saison flavor with a bit of hop just enough to give it a little bitterness. for $3/pint i was ok with it.

Bottle drank at Hill Farmstead while waiting for the Harvest Festival VIP session to begin, Vermont. Pours clear, golden-brown with a fine, frothy cap. Moderate yeast in the nose, brown bread, subtle ripe fruits. Medium sweet flavor with faintly toasted bread, light yeast, some faint berries. Medium bodied with creamy carbonation. Sweet finish with further notes of yeast and brown bread, along with light caramel and brown sugar. Decent balance, very smooth character.

Brown color. Some yeast and a little citrus, as well as lots of sweet malt, and in fact it is too sweet really. There is some light spice, but it is overwhelmed by sugar.
