(2.75 / 5.0) Fruit Ale--Raspberry--Light sediment hazes clear purple hued amber golden color. Light raspberry aroma and taste but little wheat malt flavor. Thin body carries light flavor. Refreshing and easy but rather bland. Sampled 5/4/2000. Widberry Black Raspberry Ale-2001 12 oz. Bottle. 4.60% ABV. (3.75 / 5.0) Fruit Ale--Raspberry--Lightly hazy pink raspberry color. Light sediment. Mild nice raspberry aroma. Mild body is slightly creamy with balanced raspberry malt flavor and light wheat spice hints. Lingering malt features in end. Sampled 4/9/2001. Widberry--Wheat Beer With The Flavor of Natural Black Raspberry. 2002 12 oz. Bottle. 4.70% ABV. (3.5 / 5.0) Fruit Ale Black Raspberry--Sediment hint. Clear thin light red tinted amber color. Mild raspberry front. Light raspberry flavored slightly sweet fruit body. Subtle spicy wheat flavors. Thin texture. Crisp clean light citrus end. Sampled 9/3/2002.

slightly cloudy amber, whispy head, sweet straw? berry aroma, starts sweet with lots of berry flavor, finishes with a slight wheat character

ok, i didn’t rate over a month ago, so this is by memory, but this is the beer that got me inteterested in beer again and into micro-beers and onto this site. Shame on me for not raiting it. Anyways it has a very nice fruity malty aroma. It is well-balanced, not too fruity like many fruit beers are. The raspberry flavor actually works and it has a nice lingering bittersweet aftertaste.

Strong aroma of rasberries. Not too sweet. Sour berry flavor with a little hop bite. Smooth and quenching.

I like this beer when it comes to the fruit styles. It isn’t too sweet, but has enough flavor to make it interesting.

A very confusing beer. A very sweet flavor along with a little bit of hops. Wjouldnt want to drink more than 2.

On tap at Widmer. Orange-red. Very light head. Soft berry aroma. Lots of berry flavour but not overly strong. The odd hint of hops in the lightly tart finish.

At the brewery pub in Portland. On draft. An odd gold coor with minimal head. Strong fruit nose. Carbonation heavy. Lots of flavor. It was not bad for a fruit beer.

This beer is completely out of sync. When you have flavors fighting and opposing each other that is never good. Darkelf is right when he says the moderate bitterness clashes with the gentle tartness of the black raspberries. This overall has some great flavors to it, they are well represented, nice fruit flavors and the there is a generous portion of malt, but this is overall lacking.

Pours a deep reddish blue? almost purple color. Aromas of berries and some sweet malt. Flavor is a subdued berry taste, and a nice touch of hops.
