Powertrip (71), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 9, 2007 Nothing stunning on the nose. Some cocoa with a hint of cherry joined by malt and barley. Appearence is a gorgeous deep red with black shadows and a hearty tall head resting nicely on top. Immediate smoke gives way to a rich and lively fruit basket. Sadly, this joy turns to a bitter metalic finish, saved only by a touch of roasted malt.
yespr (6944), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 7, 2008 RB#5900: 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep hazzlenutbrown. Light tan head. Quite spiced and roasted breadish malt aroma. Flavour is sweet initially , yet with distinct spiced note and a breadish roasted flavour. This keeps lingering into the finish with a mild bitterness showing through. A more pronounced dark fruity touch appears for each sip. bierkoning (4932), La Tropica, Netherlands Dec 21, 2007 Swing top bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, salt and licorice in the aroma. Malty, bready, salty flavor with caramel and licorice. Full bodied. Roastbitter aftertaste with salmiac. Lord_Corkscrew (600), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy Nov 19, 2007 Doppelbock color rubino scura con buona schiuma; aroma fruttato e molto alcolico e caramellato. Sapore un po’ pasticciato ma con grande presenza di vaniglia e un tocco di metallo; tutto sommato non molto più di una versione un po’ più rustica della Salvator. jeverszeuge (125), Germany Aug 23, 2007 copper coloured and nearly clear (it is unfiltered...). sweet malty start. later on taste of metal which, together with sticky lips, does not lead to one of my favourite beers.
