Stammbräu harks back to the optimistic mood of the early days, still prevailing here, and is advertised with period illustrations from shortly after the turn of the century. Stammbräu is only available in the traditional cliplock bottles, which have been re-introduced. Particularly in the Vienna area,

Huge offwhite lasting head. Yellow body with light carbonation. Fruity peppery aroma, quite light and very clean. Harmonic. Dry-sweet grassy peppery hop taste with fruity malty notes. Some residual sweetness. Mid-bodied. Dry grassy aftertaste. Nice, clean, drinkable. (0.5l bottle, Sternbräu, Salzburg.)

Bottled. Clear golden, small head. Grassy salty nose. Dry with cleab buttery malt and light.medium body.Quite hoppy by Austrian standards with a fair amount of grassy, resiny hops. Finishes with medium bitterness. Drinkable and much more enjoyable than most Brau Unions beers.

Golden color, small white head. Delisicious appearance too. Yeasty, floral aroma, sweet and "lageric" taste, moderated carbonation, good mouthfeel. Very drinkable austrian lager, but not a big character. I can drink it with my buds.

0.5 l flip top bottle from Spar in Semriach. Poured lighter golden body with medium head that went away at medium pace. Malty sweetish aroma, some spices, bit sourish. OK, some hops present, too. Flavor is sweetish, with hints of vegetables, relatively empty bodied. Medium carbonation. Finish was following the flavor, without any bad notes though, but too short anyway. Well, this is quite bad pilsener for me, although drinkable beer.

Bottle. Malty, bread & cookies, sweet. Orange body, large foamy white head, most of it fades away. Light acidic, refreshing. The duration is short. Rather light and watery body, soft carbonation. Good beer.

Medium head, slight hoppy aroma. Quite rich in flavour, grainy, slightly acidic in the middle with some bitterness in finish. Good pilsener.
