4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 denimglen (8) - Auckland, - APR 21, 2009Really good beer. Aroma of soft malt, some caramel, floral hops, touch of diacetyl and fruit esters. Large pillowy head, sticky lace, stream of fine bubbles, dark copper, awesome retention. Fruity and slightly earthy hops, some ester character, chocolate and toasty mid-palate, balanced, sharpish bitter finish, slightly minerally. Medium body, slightly over carbed.

Cloudy amber w thin head. Aroma is subtle earthy and mushroomy stuff, w a little bit of caramel. Caramelly, a touch yeasty, not really Bristolian, definitely new world.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Jimthechap (1195) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 24, 2012
Hazy reddish amber with a the makings of a white head. Nothing wrong with the way it looks. Aromas of malt and stonefruit. Plenty of carbonation. Flavours reminiscent of bitter coffee and charry pastry. Not bad but not earth shattering.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 buzz_and_hum (144) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 28, 2010
500ml bottle. Rich brown pour, but head fades too fast for my liking. Solidly warm nutty aroma with a resiny hop undertone. Medium bitterness, slightly sweet on the tounge. Solid carbonation, not too fizzy nor too soft, body not as full as I would’ve liked from a bitter. Warm bitter aftertaste lasts until next sip. Nothing to exciting here, but nothing I won’t say no to in the futre.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 beer4eternity (198) - Tauranga, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 3, 2010
500ml bottle. Brown amber hue, small white mostly diminishing head, some lacing. Aromas of malty caramel, toffee, strong "Christmas pudding" fruit, spice, apricot. Mild to moderate sweetness especially for a bitter, moderate bitterness. Long dry finish, light carbonation. Numbed the front half of my tongue.
Nice.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bluebetty (1019) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 10, 2009
Bottle. Pours a wonderful deep mahongany with a nice offwhite head. Aromas are quite floral with some malt. A little strange to be honest. Falvours of sweet malt, toffee and nuts. Reasonably bitter on the finish with some resiny hops.on the finish. Nicely balanced and mouthfeel is just about perfect. Strange aromas distracted a little from what would have been a really nice beer.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 bluevegie (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 30, 2009
Bright, clear amber body with a lasting head. Whilst this beer doesn’t taste offensive it has a slight infection that dominates the palate and so not a true rating.

Bottle. Clear dark amber brown with a lively almond coloured head that leaves nice lacing down the glass. Nutty toffee aroma. Nice toasty flavour, roasted nuts, toffee, hints of chocolate. Bitter finish. Very flavourful with a nice smooth mouthfeel. Delicious.

Draught. Pours amber with a medium white head. Malt and light fruity tones. The mouthfeel is quite thin and low bitterness in the finish. Not quite there for the style.
2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 11, 2008
Bottle, pours an attractive dark amber with a voluminous off white head. A pleasant aroma combining juicy and flowery characteristics. The malt loses it appeal in the mouth, being quite grainy and thin on the palate. I also get an unfortunate metalicness. The bitter finish saves it somewhat. I was really looking forward to this from the aroma, but it fails in the mouth.
