4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear, deep, dark red with brown, long lasting head. Aromas of caramel, burnt toast, and an earthy mustyness. Rich caramel and bready flavours with a roasty, not quite coffee-like finish. Full bodied.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark amber with.a broken frothy off white head and some broken lace. The aroma is, yeast, ripe citrus. The flavour is moderate sweet and a hint of yeasty sourness with a dry, big fruit wood resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a light bubbly mouthfeel. I wasn’t so impressed initially but it grew on me a little.

Quirky, caramel malt dominated beer, with a mild resin hop aroma. Will try again in winter

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Earthy floral aroma and dark copper colour are enticing - and not let down by the taste. A decidedly different one from the standard Pale Ale - but one that is equally enjoyable. Another great brew from the folks at Wigram.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A pretty beer, cola coloured with a tan head that is persistent and firm, really strong chocolate aroma dominates though. Bitter wash over the palate that ends towards sweetness, but you can pic the hops and malt in this. It’s better, by a long way, than I thought it would be,

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg - Brew, Tauranga. Poured a chestnut brown with a small, slowly dissipating and lacing off-white to beige head. Chocolate, coffee, roasty, nutty malts, bread dough, toffee and burnt toast characters. Some plummy dark fruit notes too. Medium body with good palate consistency throughout and a dry, lingering malt bitterness in the finish. Medium carbonation keeps the palate texture lively and fresh. Crisp, clean and balanced malt-forward goodness and bittersweet balance.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma Roasty, toasty malts, unripe plums, coffee, chocolate, even a slight smokiness on first sniff. Taste is the same, but there’s a lot going on that I can’t put my finger on after just a single bottle. I’m definitely gonna hafta drink this again.

From a 500ml bottle on 29/11/2012 (ABV listed as 5% rather than 5.2%). Pours a clear dark amber with a small head. Has a quite strong aroma of chocolate and caramel malt. The flavour follows suit with lots of chocolate and caramel, along with some nutty, bready and roasty notes. Finishes with a nice medium bitterness. All up, a very pleasant malt dominated brew.

Nice Dunkel! Looks pretty awesome, with a diluted cola tone and a generous, creamy, off-white head. Smells of nothing. Well, to be honest, there’s a very subtle aroma of porter smothering something mischievously foul, but which is quite well hidden. The flavour is absolutely delicious. Yes mellow roasted malts, and even plums – not sure if this is consistent with the style. There’s some bitter chocolate and biscuits in there too. Perhaps marzipan, I don’t know. It’s pretty damn pleasant! Palate is a bit astringent, resinous. Nice long finish, dry and sticky. Lovely beer. I guess my biggest problem with this product is the choice of spelling. If they want to refer to the city of Munich (and they do), they should spell it as Münchner (with an umlaut) or Muenchner (the “ue replaces the “ü”). The word “Munchner” (without the umlaut) does not exist in the English or in the German languages. It does not refer to Munich, but to only to a certain Norwegian family name. Yeah, I know how people will appreciate this type of criticism...
