3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Coppery amber in colour with a good covering of cream coloured head and a generous sparkle in the body. The aroma is of good English hops, giving earthy, woody aromas and some lime leaf and citrus notes from the New Zealand contribution. This zesty contribution is the first thing that leaps to the fore upon tasting. This is a assisted by a lightly prickly mouthfeel and plentiful hoppy bitterness. What intrigues and delights me is that the higher alcohol content is disguised - this is a beer of balance. The body is mellow and brings nectarine, apricot and peach to proceedings and the finish dwells on the harmony of fruits and lemongrass. This could be quite a dangerous ale to drink because another pint would be extremely tempting.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
An enjoyable brew that offers a different take on the usual for this style (English hops). The subdued hoppiness is nicely complemented by the darker maltiness.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brass colour, almost clear. Aroma is sweet, peaches and bruised apples with some pleasant yeastiness. Taste is quite rich, but finally ends with a dry finish. I was surprised at the clear alcohol flavour coming through. This is a strong beer, but at 6.6 the alcohol is more noticeable than some local DIPAs. Not bad, but the the hops come in too late and do not balance the richness of this been enough for me.
