Shnoodlepip – 6.5% – Pink Pepper + Barrels + Passion Fruit + Hibiscus
The next beer to appear this summer will be one of the most exciting we are yet to be involved with…
A collaboration of 3 brewers, 3 nationalities and 6 ideas.
We collaborate to learn, experiment and enjoy. With this beer we have explored new ideas, techniques, ingredients, combinations and processes.
Kelly Ryan from Good George Beer in NZ, Brett Ellis (originally from the US) from the Wild Beer Co, and Mark Tranter from Burning Sky Brewery have used their combined knowledge and experiences to create an incredibly unusual and complex beer, at every opportunity they have sourced an amazing ingredient or tried an alternative technique.
Grain – Spices – Yeast – Wood – Fruit – Flowers
20130724-095219.jpg Somerset Sharpham Park Spelt has been used for a full body. Pink peppercorns give a gentle sweet spiciness. Saison and Brettanomyces yeast strains lead to a dry spicy character that will continue to evolve. Wood-ageing in French red wine barrels for 4 months adds depth and oak. Passion-fruit brings a tart tropical fruit character. The 4 month ageing process has been finished off with amazingly tangy Hibiscus flowers.
That is one shnoodlepippin beer!
Shnoodlepip will be available in 330ml bottles and keykegs from mid-August.

Hazy golden with white head. Aroma is pepper, citrus fruit, funk and some barrel. Fruity and sour palate. Aftertaste is rich, dry, pepper, funk, spice and lingering dry barrel taste. Overall: Excellent! So many elements blends well in this one.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden, with a finger thick creamy head. Aroma is tart and peppery fruity, red currants, strawberries and some tropical fruity notes, as well as some funky brett, wooden barrels and red wine. Full body with an almost creamy texture, with average carbonation. Flavour is tart fruity yeast and sour berries, with woody brett and balsamic vinegar. Short finish with sour fruits.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light amber body with a small white head. Nose is hibiscus, wood, red berries, mango, sour grainy tones and hints of pepper and dry grass. Taste is red fruits, lemon juice, wood, passionfruit, pepper and hints of herbs, hibiscus and grass. Medium body and carbonation. Another smooth and highly original creation from Wild Beer; very hard to define but definitely drinkable. Well done!

330ml bottle in Bristol. Pours cloudy dark amber with a fluffy medium sized white head that laces well. Nose has definite funky Brett and Saison-like yeasty notes on top of sweet grains, peppers, wood, red wine, passionfruit and tropical Hibiscus. Palate is light and wispy with sweet and sour flavours with and a woody vinous dry finish. ABV is certainly well hidden in this very refreshing lively beer. Lots going on and difficult to categorise being a combination of a lambic/saison/fruit/spice beer. A success!

Bottle @ The Font, Manchester [291004]
Light pink orange, hazy, thin off white head
Aroma of soft citrus fruits, red wine barrel, soft tart, light pepper, strange aroma, slight vegetal (not in a bad way)
Taste of soft vitrus, soft red wine, woody, bit vegetal spicy, quite tart, floral. unusual mishmash of flavour, spicy, peppery, yeah it’s quite f*cked up
Palate - Medium carb and body, quite tart and tangy, fairly acidic, alcohol is prominent though. Finish as main flavour
Overall - Interesting beer worth trying

A wonderful, unique beer. A bit chunky on pouring, but the balance between components is perfect with a nice sour finish. Love it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml Bottle - Amber red in colour. Fruity and vinous aroma with notes of wine, some musty hints, wood and dried fruit. Sharp and fruity taste with sultanas, raisins, caramel, wood, pepper and some very subtle tropical fruit notes. There’s a lot going on in this beer and it’s quite complex, yet fairly easy to drink.

Pours a beautiful rose colour. Nice fruity aroma. Tastes a little too much of hibiscus for my liking but a nice beer none the less
