Epic by name, epic by nature, this Farmhouse Ale is a transcontinental fusion of Belgium’s eclectic beer culture and the feisty hops of North America brought to life with the aid of West Country artisanal brewing wizardry and judicious use of the US-grown Sorachi Ace hop. On the nose, the hops deliver a big splash of tropical fruit, followed by ripples of well-seasoned spiciness spreading outwards. In the mouth a tangy, bittersweet fruitiness holds sway, while tangerine oranges tap dance their way across the tongue in the finish.

Bottle: (as Somerset Saison) Clear gold with a huge, just-off-white head. Peppery, straw and yeast aroma. Flavour is light and airy, lemon, barnyard...straw/grass. Nice pleasing bitter.

About 2 weeks ago, I went to Brighton, I stayed in a hotel. The hotel was good but the beer selection at the bar was pretty appalling. Thanks to CBC Brighton, I didn’t have to touch any of that shit. So this is what I picked up from CBC. Lovely pub by the way. I’ll pay a proper visit soon. Yeah so beer..subtle character and smooth finish. A bit spicy here a bit fruity there. Enjoyable enough.

Sampled at Where the Wild Beers Are, 6/7/14 (I’m keeping this a little shorter than my normal rating style to help catch-up my backlog a little faster)
I thought this was a pretty solid beer. The grain and spice notes go nicely with the fruity component. Doesn’t blow you away, but very solid stuff.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a hazed, orangey gold color, with an abundant & persistent cloud of frothy, soft white head foam, and clingy ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was light greenery & mint, with subtle mango & orange. Light bodied, with lively carbonation, the taste continued the mild esters, with a bit of perky tartness, and a lightly dry finish. Understated, but refreshing, and very quaffable!

On tap at The Oblivion Tap Room, Orlando, pours a hazy light golden yellow color with a nice white head. Nose is spicy with a predominance of cloves. Taste is light with a bit of spice but very subdued. Finishes on some spicy floral notes. Fair at best . Quaff Score 6 / 10

From on tap poured into a snifter -- This is a slightly funkier than normal saison. I would have loved to drink this on a hot summer day outdoors, it was very refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a pale hazy gold with a high, large-grained, mashed-potato head. Nose is lemon, spice, and a little barnyard, earth, and wood. Peppery sweetness up front, with mango and orange frontwards; there’s a touch of bitterness and hops grassiness, and a vegetal note shading close to green chiles. Finish is long, dry, herbal, and spicy. Very nice.

Popular at the tasting. Crispy slightly sour tart saison, lemony and summery. Nice. Serving: Bottle

Bottle from BottleDog London and drunk at home. As an aperatif. Hazy mid gold lasting white head. Perfumed fruity saison aroma. Peachy flavour. Dry saison finish. I’ve had 3 of these Wild Beers in a row and 2 have had this peachy flavour. Decent dryness touch of perfumed soap. OK, but the peach is too dominant.
