Epic by name, epic by nature, this Farmhouse Ale is a transcontinental fusion of Belgium’s eclectic beer culture and the feisty hops of North America brought to life with the aid of West Country artisanal brewing wizardry and judicious use of the US-grown Sorachi Ace hop. On the nose, the hops deliver a big splash of tropical fruit, followed by ripples of well-seasoned spiciness spreading outwards. In the mouth a tangy, bittersweet fruitiness holds sway, while tangerine oranges tap dance their way across the tongue in the finish.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear orange with a big, fluffy pillowy head. Bright tropical fruits on the nose, something waxy, some booze and a definite hint of spicy, soapy Sorachi funk. Surprisingly bitter, really quite tangy. Orange pith, white pepper. Just a hint of soft malt, the farmhouse thing doesn’t really appear until it opens up but that’s ok. Waxy lemon rind bitterness on the finish. Soft, creamy carbonation, really spot-on actually. Really quite unique - I wasn’t convinced to begin with, but it’s a good ’un!

Nice pour, gentle carbo, deep yellow golden color, stable small head. A: perfect saison ipa mix, with a relatively strong fruitiness with lychee, pineapple, pear. Doughy, slightly yeasty fresh grains. T: ipa dominates, very little saison. Slightly fruity bitter start with citrus and soap notes. Fresh and crisp fruity bitter development, bit doughy. Light body. Neutral aftertaste.

Bottle from Beer52, Pale yellow colour, tall white head. I agree with other reviewers and describe the head as "wild" just something different to it that works. Light-bodied, malty, grainy and a citrusy background, also a yeast presence. Not terrible but not one I could session drink.

bottle from M&S Exeter. Hazy pale yellow, tall white head. Wild nose. Light-bodied, malty start, grainy touch and a citrusy-fruity background, also a yeasty funkyness present. Delicious and exciting.

Draft sample @ Oersoep Bierfest 2015, Nijmegen.

Sampled draft @ Oersoep Craft Beer Festival 2015. Hazy orange, HUGE, HUGE creamy off-white head. Nose is exotic fruits, peach, strong fruit, blue cheese. Taste is the Sorachi Ace blue cheese, lots of it, mixed with peach, exotic fruit, light yoghurt, creamy, bread, faint floral in the back. Creamy body. My kind of beer. Pretty epic indeed.

- Cloudy, as WB like to make ‘em. - Nose: lemon zest, some spice – very much like Celis White – and a splash of seawater. - Body: v light. - Longish, dry finish – with a dash of savoury, dried coconut. Lemon/seawater tang returns, too - Dry, delicately balanced. Thought it would have more brett, for some reason.
