Epic by name, epic by nature, this Farmhouse Ale is a transcontinental fusion of Belgium’s eclectic beer culture and the feisty hops of North America brought to life with the aid of West Country artisanal brewing wizardry and judicious use of the US-grown Sorachi Ace hop. On the nose, the hops deliver a big splash of tropical fruit, followed by ripples of well-seasoned spiciness spreading outwards. In the mouth a tangy, bittersweet fruitiness holds sway, while tangerine oranges tap dance their way across the tongue in the finish.

Bottle from Corks of Cotham, Bristol. Slightly hazy gold in colour, with a decent white head. Aroma of apricot, lemon, sherbet and sour dough, with some juicy fruit gum in the background. Flavour of tart and yeasty stone fruits, oranges, peppery hops and green herbs, finishing off dry and mouth puckering. Very good.

Bottle @ home. Pours pale yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of musty funk, saison yeast, citrus, and grain. Taste is yeasty, a little tart, and a little bitter; but pretty weak. Fizzy medium body.

Bottle. Hazy yellow/orange with a medium sized frothy white head. Herbal and light dusty nose. Flavour is fruity; lemon, melon, more generic bubblegum things, dust, dry green plants, light spicy. Long lemony finish. Mild sweet with balanced bitterness. Gentle carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Interesting and enjoyable.

Draught @ Wildeman, Amsterdam. Hazy straw yellow, small white head. Clean, earthy, seaweed/nori? Quite bitter finish. Nice, but not so "farmy", bit thin.

Nice saison, but maybe a bit strong and not so well balanced.

small bottle sample at a bar, cloudy orange pour with a small white head on top, floral hop, crisp, orange, citrus, grapes, yeast, with some spices in the back, lot’s of peach and mango forward. would love to try this on a hot summer day instead of a warm bar during winter

Actually, this was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden orange color with a fairly foamy to bubbly and clingy looking head. Decent clingy bubbly lacing surrounds the glass. The smell starts off with a woody acceptable vinous leaning to a fresh grape. As it warms, there’s a slight sour grape to slight tart cherry. The taste evenly disperses itself along my tongue to the tart to sour to woody cherry and citric fruitiness. There’s a light woody aftertaste that leads to a dry finish. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but not overbearing. Overall, for a saison, this one really comes across as pretty woody in the flavoring. To me, this is just okay, unsure if I really would come back to again.
