COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beautiful black stout with an enormous amount of smoked malt to produce a delicious flavour reminiscent of Lapsang Souchong tea. A staggeringly smooth and smokey sweetness radiates through the beer, evocative of being warmed around the campfire on an autumnal evening. The malt is smoked over open beech log fires giving a distinctive yet mellow smokey character. We love to drink this beer whilst eating slow-cooked pork or barbecue dishes, where the smokey flavours play alongside each other and the body of the beer matches nicely to the rich meat. Or, for something more unusual, try it alongside a creme brulee where it will be a winning partner to the burnt sugar.

In short: a smoked stout.
Pours black with nice tanhead. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Some fresh smoky aromas, roasty, coffee ones. Medium body, averageto low carbonation, oily texture. Taste is smoky, but very well integrated with creamy, liquorice and roasty flavours. Smooth and enjoyable.

Goodness, apart from a 50/50 pour (beer to head) on my first attempt - this looks great dark black and a mocha coffee head that is thick and persistent. Then the lovely bitterness and the amazing smoked over note, with the sweet fruits and this is divine! Rich and just fantastic.

Bottle at BottleDog, King’s Cross’ first tasting on 12 Jun. Poured a dark ruby, with a large, dense tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, smoke and grain. Peat in the flavour, with some grassy hop and pastry. Finish was toast, raisins and port.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, chestnut brown. Thin, tight, lasting, pale tan head. Looks good. Smoked ham. Light roast. A little ash woodiness. Taste is fairly sweet, with a smoky dryness. Light chew in the palate. Soft carbonation makes a good match. Finish is dry, smoky, with a little roasty bitterness. Drinks above the ABV. Tasty stuff.
