4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Leighton (6910) - London, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2013
Keg at the Euston Tap - London. Pours dark, cloudy brown with a fine, off-white cream head. Well toasted bread in the nose with hints of dirt. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate earthy bitterness, faint roast, mellow cocoa, burnt leaves. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Modest burnt pine finish with more earth, dirt and light cocoa. It is an ESB, I’d say, but the depth of character is almost miraculous. Easily one of the best (if not THE best) ESBs I’ve had. Great.

Pours a dark hazy ruby with caramel and apples on the nose. Full bodied medium carbonation, toffee and dry hops progressing to sweet juicy raspberries and toffee creating a long finish. Really enjoy this as a less in yer face alternative to 5am saint.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mile (2100) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle. Dark brown, hazy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, light caramel and some tropical fruitiness, grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some caramel and light tropical fruitiness, light grapefruit - piney hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some caramel and light roasted malt, light fruitiness, some piney hoppyness. OK amber ale - thought finish could use more hoppyness and less caramel (aroma/finish not in balance).
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Hanoi (72) - - MAR 14, 2013
Nose is caramel, burnt toffee. Taste, is toffee, raspberry leaf tea, lots of bread, some herbs. Leads through to a very bitter finish. The beer is a bit thin.
A nice beer without being exceptional, it feels like two beers combined, the red ale notes, and then the hoppy notes following. I didn’t feel they worked in harmony well enough yet. I enjoyed it though.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BeerCast_Rich (1676) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 11, 2013
[keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh] Slightly hazy, deep dark red pour. The aroma is bitter, slightly sour cherry and raspberry fruit, oak, dry grass. The flavours are pretty similar, with a leaning towards the sharper red fruit elements. Bitter as well, really bitter. Thin and maybe needs a bit more body though, slightly oaky and woody on the finish. Something not quite there with this one, although it’s certainly highly drinkable [27022013]
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DruncanVeasey (6101) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2013
330ml bottle. Muddy ruby with a dense, well-retained cappuccino head. Huge pot pourri, cinder toffee, floral air freshener, liquorice and dried orange peel aroma. Dry, floral, husky with the brittle, rasping, dried flowers vibe of a low ABV/high hop BrewDog. Almost overpoweringly soapy and floral. Like it a lot.
