Keg tap at cbc, London on 27th March 2013. Deep brown with thin decaying foam ring. Sweetish malty aroma. Richly malty in mouth with plenty of roastiness. Citric hop plays a prominent role. Tangy finish with citric hop leading the flavours. Zingy mouthfeel and suprisingly light, easy drinking texture.

5th February 2013 Euston Tap. Murky dark brown beer, residual pale tan head. Palate is light with slightly crisp edge. Very mellow darkish malt with a touch of chocolate. Lots of minerals. Light malt cream. Crisp finish. A nice light porter but there isn’t a lot of complexity here.

Keg @ CBC Islington. Split with noted rocker Scopey. The pour’s deep brown with hardly any head. The nose is red berry, hints of balsamic. Wild yeast funk, a bit of metal. The taste is only softly sour. Hints of lactic yogurt. A bit of dirty stick, compost. Quite jammy, red fruits. Mild chocolate cake. A bit ashy. Meidum body, soft carbonation. Overall, decent. Nothing more.

The taste is soft roast, very fruity, berry, light jamminess, chocolate, caramel, decent bitterness and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate-high carbonation. Good depth of flavour and pretty drinkable.

Keg at Friends of Ham. Pours a murky brown, finger of head. Aroma is good: dark malts, red/dark fruits, a bit of perfume, nicely underplayed vanilla whisky-ness. Taste is good too: dark malts, nice vanilla, some dark fruits. A fair but more bitter than the aroma would suggest. Not too bad, but I’d rather have a Bristol Vintage.

Medium sweet flavor with brown bread, mellow roast, semi-dark fruits, prunes, figs, faint cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet finish with faint earthy roast, touches of cocoa, brown sugar, dates. Very flavorful beer, exceptionally well balanced, nicely nuanced.
