It is what it is and it had to be conquered. It’s extreme blackberry in a lager form.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz bottle from Wegman’s King of Prussia, PA. Raspberry red with a thin pink head and lively carbonation, fruity aroma - presumably blackberry with some underlying malt to show that there is some beer in there somewhere; surprisingly full bodied, with quite a weight to it, the taste is really sweet and grainy; unfortunately then alcohol then hits the back of the throat like petroleum spirit, making it more like a cheap alcopop. Worth a try - but only once.

0.8 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Bottle. Just as horrible as Wild Red. Pours almost purple with a small reddish head. Aroma and flavors of horribly sweet artificial blackberry and low grade alcohol. Drain pour for sure.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Seaside, Fl - Modica Market - 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark purple, light off white head. Pleasant aroma of blackberries, a hint of vanilla. Flavor is full of potent blackberries, a hint of booziness, some traces of blackberry syrup, 12 oz is enough - edging towards cloying. Mouthfeel is a bit harsh. Kind of a guilty pleasure.

1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20

1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento as Shadow’s Wild Black. Pours dark and ruddy with a slight creamy pinkish head. Smells like fresh blackberry. Flavor is sugary blackberry with a fairly nasty wheat? aspect? Or maybe rice and blackberry don’t go well together? At 8% I’m suggesting that this is flavored Natty Daddy. These big brewers just rearrange the plumbing and anything goes.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
12oz bottle. Pour is purple/black with almost no head. Looks more like a soda than a beer. Aroma is very sweet fruity. The blackberry aromas and flavors completely overwhelm this beer. This is not a beer for beer-drinkers. This is alcohol disguised as soda for people who don’t like the taste of beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A VERY SWEET BEER. Pours a deep red with a purplish head that unfortunately dissipates quickly. Definitely smells of blackberries, as expected and doesn’t really smell of much else though the faint hoppiness of beer can be detected. Tastes very sweet and greatly of blackberries with nice undertones of malt and hops. Ultimately has a nice mouth-feel and the palate is pleasing; it has a surprisingly full body for a lager and the texture is rather sticky, as it is so sweet. Has lively carbonation and is rather fizzy, almost like a blackberry soda (and probably flavored with blackberry extract) and finishes sweet.
