Another gem from match1112. 12 oz bottle into an over sized wine glass. A - Pours a dark purple body with thin light purple edging. Straight 4’Loko style. S - A pretty intense aroma of fake blackberries and a touch of vodka. Such a strong smell! T - How do people drink this? Sugar, sweetener, sugar syrup, black berry jam, and sugar cubes. Its so over the top, this taste like an alcoholic sucralose fruity blackberry bomb. Thick and syrupy. O - There are zero redeeming qualities to this beer. Its cheap and highly alcoholic, but you would have to break through a wall of artificial sweetener and defeat the inevitable headache to achieve any sort of buzz. Just stick with fruited vodka.

Hot from alcohol. Aroma bounces between blackberry and alcohol. Dark purple. No head. Very low carbonation. I’m not sure what to make of this. Its not like a beer at all, more like a wine.

Pours a dark purple with a medium purple head. Aroma is very strong berry. Flavor is dominated by fruit, specifically berries and grape. Does not resemble a beer much at all; mostly reminiscent of grape or berry soda. Light body with plenty of carbonation and alcohol not very noticeable. Not good.

12oz bottle. Pour is purple/black with almost no head. Looks more like a soda than a beer. Aroma is very sweet fruity. The blackberry aromas and flavors completely overwhelm this beer. This is not a beer for beer-drinkers. This is alcohol disguised as soda for people who don’t like the taste of beer.

Bottled...whatever. Pours a pretty dark purple with a solid light purple foam sheet. Smells like blackberry meat and a little grape juice with the lager underneath. Slightly sweet, but not overly so. Tastes like sugar free, blackberry jelly (not jam), lacks any of the tartness or astringency that comes along with a good, quality blackberry. Really, way too sweet, artificially so. Thin with lower carb than anticipated, which is nice. Overall the beer would be so much better if not for the profound, excessive and reprehensible use of sweeteners. That makes the beer horrid. Is this a beer or a wine cooler? I couldn't tell. Very sweet pronounced blackberry flavor, pretty one note. ---IMHO

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento as Shadow’s Wild Black. Pours dark and ruddy with a slight creamy pinkish head. Smells like fresh blackberry. Flavor is sugary blackberry with a fairly nasty wheat? aspect? Or maybe rice and blackberry don’t go well together? At 8% I’m suggesting that this is flavored Natty Daddy. These big brewers just rearrange the plumbing and anything goes.

Purple color with many bubbles. Aroma sweet and fruity, inoffensive. Light body, carbonation. Sweet flavor. Bit of alcohol. Flavor is I guess blackberry at least by the power of suggestion, not completely artificial tasting but not entirely natural either. More alcoholic soda than beer.

Bottle from Blue Dog. Pours turbid, merlot colored with fizzy pink head. Nose is earthy blackberry and red wine grapes. Tastes very sweet, with notes if blackberry, grape juice, and an odd finishing flavor. Light alcopoppy palate that isn’t complex.
