Honey Wines are believed to be the first fermented beverages on earth. Kings, artisoris, and romantics have all treasured honey wine known as mead. Vikings drank mead for stamina in war and lovers sipped mead to increase their intensity of love. Traditionally newlyweds would drink mead for one moon to ensure a prolific family (the honey moon). This mead has the sweet taste of succulent blueberries and honey with a crisp finish. Perfect served chilled on its own.

Rated on 4-28-2012 at Fort Wayne, IN Gathering (Bottle) This mead pours a small head, very little carbonation and a reddish body. The aroma is sweet, blueberries and honey. The flavor mimics the aroma along with a dry finish. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this mead is medium bodied. This is a very good quality brewed mead. It is easy to drink and the 12% ABV is not overpowering in my opinion. This is a mead worth trying and one that I would drink again. It was fun rating this quality mead!

Pours ruby. Aromas of a berry juice lightly tannic. Wonderful blueberry tartness. Hints of raspberry and tannins. Subtle sweetness and a nice drying quality.

Bottle. Pours a deep ruby-violet, minimal head. Nose is berries, flowers, some vinegary notes. Mouth is medium bodied, alcohol forward (and at the back too), sweet, berries, honey notes and some port-ness. A bit too sweet for my liking.

This corked bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a uncarbonated transparent light red brown colored body. The aroma was of berry and very sweet. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting honey aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of berry and honey. Yes, a mead with a biting finish of honey. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting courtesy of thedm and hotstuff - This honey wine has a pleasant honey and blueberry aroma. It tastes sweet with the blueberries apparent but not overpowering. Thatís interesting that some raters didnít think it was sweet at all. I thought quite differently. It finishes a little dry and is a quality mead. Enjoy.

Clear mead with a reddish amber color. Short lived pupleish head. Not still but darn close. Sweet honey and berry nose. Honey sweet mead with flavors of tart blueberry and some raspberry popsicle. Nice dry finish. Tastey mead. Thanks to thedm and hotstuff for sharing.

4 ounce tap at Bad Apple in Chicago. It has a glowing red color. The spiciness and mix fruit flavor made this unique, but iíd probably have trouble drinking 12 ounces of it.

Bottle at the AHA Rally at Goose Island Fulton Plant. Pours a nice purplish red with no head. Nose is robust, notes of honey and fresh blue berries. Mild apple and maple in the distance. The mead itself is quite dry and has a ton of honey and blueberry flavor. Fruity and tart. Very high quality stuff that Iím a big fan of.

Pours a deep red-purple color and very clean. Aroma has almost zero sweetness and is very reminiscent of a cabernet sauvignon - dark tannin, dark grape rind, slight tartness complimented with some mild blueberry fruitiness. Flavor has a very early mellow red wine note but this fades fairly quickly to a hefty crushed, fresh blueberry juice note. Flavor ends on a light sweetness but one that fits a watered down juice than a meed. Body is pretty thin with a very light stickiness to it. Overall this meed was just okay. Nothing about it was really striking and the body was a bit lighter than I thought it would be. If the body was slightly heavier and the berry flavor a bit sweeter, I think this would be a little better. Too much like a cabernet sauvignon and not enough like a meed.

Had at the Hopleaf in Chicago. Simply amazing; by far the best mead Iíve ever tasted... also buttery and delicious... my friend said it tasted like blueberry pancakes!
