Thanks to Brad at Jackie O’s for busting this on out on Rachael’s birthday. Clear reddish amber in color with no head and no legs. Aroma of honey and light white wine. Honey and sweet fruit flavor with a hot pepper finish. Pretty decent, but the heat stays with you (even to the next morning, if you know what I mean).

At Midwest Brewers Fest. Poured reddish gold color. Aroma of a cow barn with some heat. Quite smooth super hot hot hot taste. Sweet flavors gets lost.

Sampled at Bad Apple. Pours a clear orange gold with no head whatsoever. Aroma is full of spice, cinnamon, peppers and chili come through with a bit of honey underlying. Flavor is dominated with overtly strong peppers that over power the cinnamon and honey. Undrinkable...

Draft on tap at Hunahpus Day 2013 (Tampa, FL). Brought down especially for MeadMe. Pours a richer orange amber pour, faint haze, some legs on the swirl. Gentle head. Aromas are pepper, chilies, earth and spice. Gentle honey, some sweetness, and apple, more pepper crops up. Initial is a bit smoky, honey, some apples up front. Mellow smokiness, earth, chilis, and some honey. Smokiness really catches on into the middle and backend. Toasty, peppery spice, with lingering firm peppers into the finish. Apple and honey up front immediately smack with some chili life, some toastiness, earth, solid peppery hot elements. Really solid, good sweeter play up front, immediately some pepper life. A bit much to drink more than a few ounces, but an impressive beverage that kinda moves on well and provides a good story.

Puts a amber ish gold from an awesome skull bottle which has Thai chilies floating in it. Aroma is of mild sweet honey and a blast of pepper spray. The flavor is all about the pepper from the start. The honey sweetness is here up front but the pepper heat quickly cuts through it. It is wonderfully spiced without being overdone. The earthiness of the peppers come through as well. Sweet earthy spicy goodness. Thanks to Adam for the share. It was awesome!

bottle-shared by jtclockwork-still-amber. A-pepper seed, some mint, med malt, honey, smooth. T-sweet honey-med malt, pepper seed. The heat continues for minutes but up front or after the finish, never goes WAY over the top. Occasional.

Bottle courtesy of James at his November 2012 tasting. Pours a hazy reddish amber body. Aroma is sweet honey, strong spice and light cherries. Mouthfeel is hot as hell, but never palate-destroying. I wish the habanero sculpin was a closer equivalent to this. Notes of honey, sweet fruit, strong chili peppers and light melon. Nice unique mead.

Bottle. Pours amber. Pepper, honey sweetness, and (relatively) medium heat. I have a tough time getting through beers with too much pepper heat, this one was on the borderline of being too much for me.

Bottle at James’ place for a tasting. Pours a clear brown amber. Big peppers on the nose, spicy, smells of dried peppers. Beautiful nose. Medium bodied, big sweet honey, a lovely amount of smokey pepper. Long smoky pepper, lots of depth, wonderful heat. The burning lingers and persits, but is never unbearable. Pleasant heat, absolutely lovely.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2012 Bottle shaped like a skull. Chili peppers floating in it. Awesome! Pours orange amber. Nose/taste of honey, chili pepper, florals and fruit. Taste starts out sweet honey/fruit and finishes fire hot chili pepper - tons of chili pepper heat, but always a pleasant burn. Sipper. Medium body.
