Ughsmash (2615), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear, brilliant fuschia with a light pink cap for head.. kinda sexy in a way, I suppose. The aroma was a mixture of sweet blueberry and boysenberry with sparkly underlying wheatiness.. not bad, but deep down there seemed to be whispers of malt likka. The flavor focused more on the blueberries, with more sweet meat than tart skin.. grassy notes, pale malt, and honey beneath.. deeper yet is rough, cheap perfumey booze that builds through the finish, where it takes on the character of Leinie’s Berry Weiss, which is NOT a good thing.. sticky finish with artificially-sweetened berries and corny alcohol warmth. Medium-bodied and effervescent on the palate with thick, sticky sweetness on the back.. started out better than it finished.
Syd (698), Twin Cities Metro, Minnesota, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle pours violet with a pink head that laces in sheets. It looks interesting. The aroma is of blueberry syrup for pancakes. The flavor is of blueberry syrup for pancakes. There is a faint wisp of a hop in the finish (or it could be the last IPA I rated still in my mouth). Sort of like pop, sort of like wine cooler, sort of like overly sweet craft beer fruit beer offerings. There really is no hint of the 8% ABV, + points for that. The palate is pretty rich and still cleansing, but cloying. This is not a bad attempt. I was not expecting this; rather I was expecting more of a lager with hint of blueberry. Boy was I wrong. Interesting. biggcb (432), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep blue almost puple color with no head to speak of. Aroma is blueberry. Taste is blueberry, with a little alcohol thrown in. Reminds me almost like blueberry syrup. Very, very sweet. guyinchicago (156), usa, Illinois, USA May 15, 2008 pours purple ,food coloring. smells and taste of blue beeries artificial flavoring poured rest down drain ,but what should you except from from a macros attempt of a fruit beer docswife (5), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA does not count May 15, 2008 Pours a pretty purple color with a small pinkish head. I agree with another rater, reminded me of sparkling grape juice. This smells like you stuck your nose into a blueberry muffin! Yummy! It has a wine cooler quality about it. Sweet with a hint of alcohol. Surprisingly the blueberry flavor is not overwhelming. It is well balanced. As a newbie to finer beer, this is a nice step. Very light and refreshing. Good summer picnic/pool party drink. I like the idea of using this in an ice cream float! dirt55 (9), USA does not count May 15, 2008 Amazing aroma, popped the cap and blueberry smell hit my face. Oddly purple color. Taste was a 3-way fight between blueberry, alcohol, and that classic malt liquor (ie Mike’s lemonade) taste...luckily enough the blueberry comes out on top on the palate. Pretty much as far from a lager taste as you can get though considering it’s labeled a lager.
