COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not suited for timid or reserved beer drinkers, Wild Blue’s defining taste characteristic is its kick of natural blueberry flavor. The Blue Dawg Brewing team carefully selected a blend of hops and barley malt to ensure they complemented and balanced Wild Blue’s dominant blueberry notes, resulting in a robust and aromatic beer with a refreshing, palate-cleansing finish. Wild Blue is brewed with a blend of German hops from the Hallertau region in Bavaria and classic Aroma hops from the Willamette Valley in the Pacific Northwest. A combination of two- and six-row barley malt also was chosen specifically for this recipe. Beer lovers will appreciate this specialty fruit-infused lager’s striking burgundy color, ripe blueberry aroma and its ability to stand up to the strongest of foods.

12 oz bottle. Poured a purplish color. Some head. Aroma was strong blueberries, some malt and alcohol. Flavor was very similar. Not particularly complex, but frankly I don’t see why it’s getting such poor reviews. It’s a fruit beer, I’d put it up against a New Glarus product. It was very drinkable, with a warming alcohol aftertaste. Sure it’s a novelty, but I’d get it again.

12 oz bottle pours purple with a white head. Aroma and taste blueberries. Not good at all.

Boozy blueberry aroma. Actually pretty nice, and you can smell it even from a distance. Makes sections of a room smell of blueberries. Flavor is where it goes downhill. You get a hint of blueberry, some booze, and then almost nothing. Aftertaste is almost non-existent, except some slight medicinal Nyquil residue. Blecch. Drinkable and okay at first, but wash out your mouth afterward. Where are the Hallertau and Wilamette hops?

First off, if I knew this was an Anheuser-Busch product I wouldn’t have bought it. Pours a reddish purple not unlike grape soda no head. Has a blueberry lager smell, there’s hope. Taste isn’t bad, just a flat blueberry flavor. At least its 8% abv. Overall it’s better than expected I’ll see if I can get the whole 6pk down.

Holy fuck, this smells like a grape flavor ice! Brings me back to my childhood. Tastes like a syrupy blueberry slushy. I got approximately 3 sips down and poured the rest. Thank you to whoever left this at my house 2 years ago.

An average beer at best. Budweiser should stay out of craft beer. It is embarrassing what they endorse. Tastes like boo very cereal. Pours purple in color ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours velvet, rocky head. Aroma of blueberries and cheap champagne. Taste: artificial blueberry flavoring, chalk, sugar.

Wild Blue Lager has a medium, fizzy, pink head, which maintains itself much longer that one would expect, a clear, ruby-red, bubbly appearance, and splotchy lacing. Aroma is of grainy, pungent lager beer and acidic blueberry juice. Taste is the same, with essentially no noticeable bitterness, but definite fruit acidity. Mouthfeel is heavy, slick, and filling, and Wild Blue Lager finishes wet, sweet, and heavy. Not a beer for me, but still well-crafted and executed. RJT

I can’t say this is as bad as everyone says... but you have to be okay with artificial flavors. This is a good beer for the non beer drinker who likes a splenda like blueberry experience. Hide the beer drink the coolaid.

"i’m glad i didn’t shell out for a six pack as i was thinking of doing. had a bit someone else’s while watching the Superbowl, and all i can say is this was quite gross. While i thought 8% abv would be a good thing, it just made this a strong gross beer instead of a more subtle one. Oh well, never again... ok, i lied...one year later i tried again. still not great, but fresher. blueberry likely being my least favorite fruit in beer. i bumped up the score a couple tenths..."
