COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not suited for timid or reserved beer drinkers, Wild Blue’s defining taste characteristic is its kick of natural blueberry flavor. The Blue Dawg Brewing team carefully selected a blend of hops and barley malt to ensure they complemented and balanced Wild Blue’s dominant blueberry notes, resulting in a robust and aromatic beer with a refreshing, palate-cleansing finish. Wild Blue is brewed with a blend of German hops from the Hallertau region in Bavaria and classic Aroma hops from the Willamette Valley in the Pacific Northwest. A combination of two- and six-row barley malt also was chosen specifically for this recipe. Beer lovers will appreciate this specialty fruit-infused lager’s striking burgundy color, ripe blueberry aroma and its ability to stand up to the strongest of foods.

Bottle. Poured a murky medium cranberry with an average sized pink frothy head that dissapated after a few minutes and had fair lacing. The aroma right away hits you with the sweet scent of blueberry’s with a mild bread malt and a sweet yeast. It tasted mildly sweet and just a tad sour with a strong blueberry presence from start to finish with the flavor lasting quite a long time. I did notice a warming sensation from the alcohol about 30 seconds after the swallow, but did not taste it at all. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and a little syrupy in texture with a lively carbonation. Overall a very sweet fruit beer and rather refreshing.

Transfer from BA review on 9-13-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a quite ruby purple color with a one finger purple tinted head floating atop the beer upon pouring. The head is quite fizzy and fades quite rapidly, leaving almost no lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is big and sweet of a blueberry smell. This aroma largely dominates the smell, but some other light aromas of candy like smell mixed with a bit of a sour berry and cherry smell are there as well. Overall it smells like berry kool-aid. Taste – The taste begins with a sweet berry flavor of blueberry mixed with a bit of raspberry and cherry. Along with these sweet flavors are some light tastes of malt. As the taste advances from the initial, it gets even sweeter and more berry candied flavored. With a little bit of an alcohol flavor coming to the tongue at the end, a very sweet berry flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thin for a brew of 8 % abv with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are rather appropriate for the very sweet and berry flavors of the brew. Overall – While massively sweet, the flavors are not all that off. It tastes kinda like a berry flavored wine cooler. If you want an alcoholic dessert in a liquid form then this is alright, but if don’t want anything very sweet, then you may want to stay away.

[5731-20130823] 12floz bottle. Red Twizzlers and blueberry juice aroma. Clear, bright red body with a quick foamy light pink head. Blueberry juicy flavour. Medium body is only mildly boozy. A fruity cooler. (7/3/6/3/12) 3.1

Maroon color with an unbeer like purple head. Nose of booberry cereal. Too sweet, with white sugar and artificial blueberry syrup flavors. Makes my teeth hurt.

This is about the only "fruit beer" I would drink. Not a fan of blueberry, which may slightly make this beer rated worse than it should be, but it DOES have a great and decently complex taste. It is sweet, but not too sweet, and doesn’t have much head to it.

its an acquired taste, its almost like a beer wine hybrid, with a definite blueberry taste. the high alcohol content is a plus.it would probably be best when paired with food.

Reviewed from notes. This was once poured into a pint glass and once poured into a pilsener. There wasn’t any difference. The appearance was a hazy yet also somewhat clear orange/Red color with a bubbly white head that quickly died. There wasn’t any lacing whatsoever. The smell had a weird blueberry that somewhat sweet but at other times sour. It never seemed to be combined. The taste was interesting as it took the blueberry and gave it a somewhat thick graininess to it. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a somewhat decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was fairly subdued. There’s a tart blueberry finish. Overall, hmmmm...I’m not exactly sure what to say other than it kinda fits the style but I’m unsure if that smell was intentional.
