I actually like this beer somewhat, and I’m a little surprised by the poor reviews here. It does have a little funkiness going on with the sudden bitterness that leaps out of nowhere, and the occasional cough syrup notes; but I like the fruity soda-like body. It is very much like the Kasteel kriek from Belgium-- and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Wild Blue was inspired after that brew. It is very difficult to hide 8% in a fruity, quaffable type of brew. That is why something is added to cover the strong alcohol notes-- because bitterness is easier to drink than ethanol. Kasteel is the same way. Tastes very good out of the bottle as well. Not a bad beer at all.

Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very blue color. Aroma of blueberry, light grain. Taste is similar and seemed a little bit like a wine cooler. Finish is smooth. Body is light. At 8%, this fruit juice beer is probably not made for beer folks.

Jul 15, 2008 Wild Blue is a clear, very sparkling, magenta beer with a small, dense amethyst head. The aroma is sweet with notes of grape peel, cider, blueberry and cork. It has a medium body, papery, syrupy and a little flat. It’s reasonably smooth, but the finish is rumbly. It tastes cidery and very sweet. There are notes of blueberry, concord grape and cranberry. It’s pretty rough and grumbly under the sweetness. My brother told me it’s something for perverts to give to young girls on the beach. I’d take this over a Bud any time.

Jul 11, 2008 Pale red/purple color with a pink head. Smell is very sweet. Taste hides the alcohol (8%) well, but the sweetness overpowers the other flavors. Not terrible, but not extraordinary either.

Jul 11, 2008 Poured a purplish blue color with a pinkish head. Aroma was of blueberry pancake syrup. Flavor was much the same, very sweet and syrupy and hard to drink a lot of.

opens up and instantly smelled grape knee-high. a strong blueberry smell, and malt.
taste was sour berry, maltish, bad aftertaste.
overall this one was really bad.
