jimvy (131), O’Fallon, Missouri, USA Jun 2, 2006 Bottle. Pours golden with a white head that doesn’t last. Very clear. Aroma is dominated by malt, but there are some earthy/flowery notes in there as well. Smells more like a bock than an IPA. Malty sweet flavor. There’s a little bitterness there, but not quite enough to balance out the malt. Finishes sweet. Overall, so so beer at best....certainly doesn’t fit the IPA guidelines, even for an english. It doesn’t really balance out...too much malty sweetness for the bitterness in there. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA May 27, 2006 finally!!! finally finally finally, i find an ipa that isn’t apa or a iipa, but just a good solid IPA! this beer is not hopped to death like most ipa’s...has a almost apple like taste to go along with the hoppers...this is a refreshing beer that i would go to if i wanted an ipa to drink all the time, thank you wild goose. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA May 12, 2006 Pours a cloudy medium amber color. Floral hop aroma with some caramel malts. Flavor is citrusy, could use more hops. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 2, 2006 Pours hazy and fairly pale with a small white head. The aroma is citrus and apricots, fairly sweet. The flavor is semisweet, but with little caramel, plenty of good citrus and pine hop flavor but a little light on the bitterness. Mouthfeel is just a tiny bit too thin. This is a good APA, but IPA is a bit of a stretch. Enjoyable nonetheless. Tmoney99 (4661), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 1, 2006 Bottle. Poured a hazy orange color with an average white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate hoppy citrus aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium hoppy bitter flavor with a full hoppy citrus bitter finish of average duration. Solid drinkable brew. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 19, 2006 Shiney reddish amber, thin off-white head. Rich caramel malt aroma with slight vegetal hints. Some light hop hints in the background. Smells very sweet; actually similar to JW Lee’s Harvest Ale. Same goes with the taste... as if they used the same ingredients, just in different ways. Stale sweet caramel dominates, but very light orange/citrus in back. A little awkward at times due to its sweetness, but still good. Not close to an IPA in my opinion, and barely close to an English IPA. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 16, 2006 Bottle. Golden body with long-lasting carbonation. Herbal, spicy citrus rind aroma with tart grain off to the side. The spicy, sappy hops take center stage when sipped with a bock-like malt tartness at the end. Dry finish. This stuff would be good served cold on a hot day, it’s not much for savoring. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Apr 12, 2006 Pours a hair darker than golden with light carbonation and a slight head that fades to a white film. Weak grapefruit in the nose. Mineral notes in the flavor before citrus... a fruity tingle with chemical leanings. Mid-bodied with a semblance of balance and a peppery, bitter finish... but not close to Americanized IPA standards.
