Deep Black color; head was dirty white and THICK; Gouda and Worteschire in the nose.
Sweet, chocolate (molasses?), very smooth like a proper oatmeal stout. Thicker in the palate then even the excellent Samuel Smith’s. Left lots of pretty lace on the glass. An excellent example of the style.

Another good beer from this brewery. Very dark with a small head. Nice roasted chocolate and coffee flavors.

Smooth, roasty, full-bodied stout.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2003 I was very unimpressed with this oatmeal stout, it lacked the full body-ness of others I've tasted, it is very rich & creamy though, nice balance, very drinkable, but it wouldn't be my first pick for an oatmeal stout

Nice roastiness in aroma and flavor. Little to no head and light carbonation. Black color looks great. This beer’s description matches what I experienced almost perfectly. This makes it a better than average oatmeal stout, but nothing amazing or revolutionary, just good drinking.
