bag (84), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 1, 2008 From bottle... poured very dark brown. Small head. Weak nutty aroma. Flavor was pretty good... lightly sweet and malty. Not very deep, and more thin than I expected from an oatmeal stout. Easy to drink, but maybe too easy. Still, I’ll give it another shot for sure.
KyotoLefty (113), Kyoto, Japan Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Rich aroma: malt, oats, nuts, chocolate, roasted barley. Sweet and slightly acidic. Rich, smooth malt and oat taste. Sweet and creamy, with the burnt flavor kicking in a bit later and lasting a long time. Long finish of burnt wood and roasted nuts. Thick palate, creamy and smooth. Very nice all around with great balance and pretty good complexity. Slightly too sweet and acidic for me. kseecs16 (537), Westmont, Illinois, USA Aug 13, 2008 Opaque thin light brown head. Aroma is toasted malt. Fairly thin light palate mild roasty flavor. Quaffable but a little lacking in body and character. RCL (1020), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Aug 7, 2008 Slightly metallic hazelnut caramel aroma. The flavor echoes the aroma pretty closely. A bit thin, but not bad. blipp (724), Grand Island, New York, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, toast, and caramel. Medium body. Flavor is similar to the aroma, but with a bit more coffee present. A very average stout. smjohnst (134), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2008 It had a good stout flavor but not even a slight hint of oatmeal flavor. Has a good dark color and good body but just doesn’t REALLY impress.
