| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2006 From a 12 oz. bottle with a blurb along the left side of the label and a best before date on the right, 09.08.07.
Poured a ruby hued brown with a small foamy off-white head that settled into a fine sudsy lacing.
Aromas of a buttery caramel, a little cocoa, a subtle citric fruity and a tad spicy with hints of minerals.
Good, even carbonation and a crisp, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting, but also at times a bit watery, toasted grains, caramel with a touch of English buttery, tobacco leafy hops at first that turn sour citric towards the end, and a leafy, softly sweet malty finish.
Not a bad winter seasonal, drinkable, but something I would only want once a year.

Piney aroma, great balance of hops, and quite tasty!! Pick up some if you can. ryan (1775), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2006 Dark amber body with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma is toffee, caramel and pine. The flavor is very piney, light caramel, some bread. Medium body, thin on the palate, especially at the end. bubbleflubber (892), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2006 Deep chocolate brown pour with a nice tan head that leaves moderate lace. The nose is of pine. Flavors are well-hopped, with rich malts and fresh pine needles. The finish, brought by hop mixture, indicates a pine essence. Mouthfeel is robust without being syrupy. This feels to be a good winter warmer, and well-enjoyed. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 11, 2006 Pours a dark brown with small white head. Caramel and fruit in the nose (maybe cherries?) with roasted malts. Well balanced flavor starting with a deep maltiness and hops sprinkled throughout the mouth. Earthy and sweet, but not overpowering in any of the flavors. Very enjoyable. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2006 Pleasantly suprised by the Frederick Brewing Co. with this one. Roasted tones with full body. Clear nutty palate, mild caramel and toffee. Alcohol could be blended a little better, but definately still a great brew.
