clifford0163 (93), Maryland, USA Nov 16, 2005 has a nice brownish color to it a nice sweetness to it as wella really good beer for this time of year xray (50), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Oct 29, 2005 Bottle form Brookdale Buy-Rite Liquors in Bloomfield. Caramel color with a small tan head. Slightly sweet caramel like aroma and taste. Definitely a solid representation of an English ale. jeckenroth (81), Charlestown, Massachusetts, USA Sep 11, 2005 Dark Brown but not opaque. Small short off white head. Medium body ith and oily texture. Medium to light carbonation and a metallic finish. Tastes strongly of oak and whiskey which mimics its aroma. Reminds me of some of the wyerbacher brews. A bit heavy for an ale. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Jun 22, 2005 Bottle courtesy of BuckNaked. Amber/mahogany in color, film for head. Aroma and flavor have lots of sweet malt, caramel, roasted grain and some dark fruit. Tiny bit of hop in the finish, not as much as the description would suggest. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA May 14, 2005 Bottle from Styles. Nice solid brown color. Slight off-white head with no lacing left behind. Nice malty aroma with a touch of raisin and molasses in there. A little thin in body but not terribly so. Alcohol is not present and I guess at 5.9% it shouldn’t really be detectible. Fair, a bit weak for a Strong ale. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA May 10, 2005 Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma of caramel, molasses, and chocolate. Pours a transparent reddish-brown with a small off-white head. Chocolate and caramel up front with a moderate hop finish. Hops don’t seem to linger into the aftertaste but the chocolate and caramel do to some extent. Comes across as a doppel with a moderately hoppy finish. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Apr 5, 2005 Thin bodied, clear-ruby/brown body. Head is beach sand and of average thickness. Smell is lovely chocolate and some rather aggressive pine hops. Taste is surprisingly big and sweet with aggressive California style hops. This could easily pass with a stone or rogue label. Lots of chocolate and some raisins and winter spices accompany the pine hops. Aftertaste is toffee/coffee and more pine hops. Nice beer and certainly an even nicer surprise from previously-unknown-to-me Wild Goose Brewery. swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA Mar 27, 2005 A deep amber colored ale with a nice spicy oak aroma. A thick rich taste that is warming. A good beer for a snowy day.
