Draft at the Abbaye. Reddish ale, no head, undercarbonated. To taste a bit sweet and thin. Will pass next time.

Nice chestnut color and beige head. Nose holds hints of malt, hops, spice. Good feel in the mouth. Robust. Smooth. Flavor was roasty and some spice and fruit notes. A pretty good beer.

2004 bottle compliments of Bucknaked (I’m drinkin all of his beer!!) Pours a wonderful deep auburn/black cherry red, with a small beige fizzy head. Aroma of crystal malt, light goldings hops, fuggles, earth, dust and yeastiness. Flavor starts out with an artificial carbonation zing which is unpleasant, but quickly jumps in to some english hops, good malt (brown sugar, light raisins and dates). Very solid throughout, but a slight bit of off tastes (sour yeast, a touch too much alcohol). Hops dominate the finish a bit too much for my liking, but it’s malty enough for most of the experience.

Bottle. Dark brown body, with a small white head. Sweet malty aroma, some sugars and a bit of hops. Flavour is much hoppier than I expected. Pleasantly so, but I would not have guessed that from the aroma. Pleasant hoppy bitterness hovers over some subtle caramel and malt providing a nice underlying sweetness to balance the hops. Please sir, can I have some more? Thanks for sharing Radek. <P>"And I can tell you - from then until now - the exact shade of blue of her underwear." - Doug extolls the virtues of Sigourney Weaver mid-beer.

Bottle: Deep redish cola colored with a small white head. Aroma is mostly malt - toasted caramel, light chocolate, mild bitter dark malts. There are hints of plum, pine, nuts, and grass. The taste has nice malty notes with just a bit more hops that you expect from the aroma. There’s some light caramel, toasted grain, hints of bitter dark malt, light chocolate, light coffee, roasted notes, and a slight vinous fruit quality to it towards the end with a touch of spicey yeast. Very nice carbonation that has a delay of about a second or two before you feel it, and when you do it’s very small bubbles, and sprizy. Then that fades and leaves you the palate, which is medium bodied, smotth, and sticky.

Mm, delicious. Aroma has hints of pine needles, rotting Berkshire leaves, fresh orange juice, tangerines, and my grandfather’s den. Apparently made with four different kinds of hops. Reminds me much of other good Christmas ales I’ve had in England. I’m pretty impressed. Will look for more from this brewer. Dark amber look to it.

Sparkling cola colored ale, creamy khaki head. Nose is light with toasted caramel, marshmallow, milk chocolate, some coffee, with some slight grain notes. Flavor practically matches aroma, is well balanced, and has a nice hint of hops to round this off. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi-dry toasty finish. A very nice session winter brew....

Nice malty aroma(predominate chocolate and caramel malts)nutty and slightly roasty, tease of hops in the aroma.Nice deep amber/brown.The taste is nice and malty with a decent amount of bitterness, good med-full mouthfeel. There is slightly strange resiny/metallic/almost soapy aftertaste at times but overall this is the best Wild Goose product I’ve ever had.Good winter warmer.
