jayc (28), USA Nov 29, 2003 You gotta love this one, it has it all: malts overflowing, caramel, and enough spices to float Istanbul's spice market AND a very cool GOOSE! I've liked this beer for the past 10 years. Heavy though -- just get the appetizers and not the main course when your on this one. Cheers! BrianO (138), Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2003 Pours a clear mahogany. Aroma is subtle of malt, caramel, and maybe some spices. Flavor is predominately malty with a nice medium body, semi-syrupy mouthfeel. Pretty tasty if you ask me. beerking99 (199), USA Nov 9, 2003 Faint malt aroma. Dark brown, with amber notes. Tan head of small bubbles, nice lace. Malty flavor, with good hop balance. Good body for English Winter Warmer/Strong Ale style. Smaller version of what it used to be. chronictonic (399), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2003 A very mild, plain IPA. Finishes thin and watery - not much of a hop bite to it at all. As an odd, lingering, acidic bitterness that unpleasantly hangs at the back of your throat for a time after a taking a swig. When compared to some of the other IPAs currently available in the Philadelphia area (Hop Devil, Indica etc.), this one just doesn't stand up to well against the competition. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Aug 7, 2003 I remembered liking this more. Pretty ruby color, head fades fast, leaving a tiny ring of little bubbles. The aroma is of dank cardboard, bread, and an "organic" hop smell. The flavor is sweet, and bready, full bodied, but somehow the finish comes up a bit thin and short. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA May 4, 2003 Pours a dark brown. A similar shade to the shade of brown the bottle is, uninterestingly enough. Little to no head on this. Hopefully this is not flat. Strong malt and spice aroma with this first whiff. As it warms it reveals little else but the spice and malt present themselves more fully. I notice cinnamon and nutmeg with perhaps a hint of pepper. Malt sweetness seems to counteract it a little bit. Seems to finish a little bitter but dry. Leaves the peppery taste on the tongue. Not bad and worth a try. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2003 Since they are both brewed by the same company I tried this with the Blue Ridge Snowball Chance at the same time to see if there is any difference. And yes there is a difference. Very slight but it's there. The Snowgoose is a little darker and a little malter the the Snowball Chance. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Feb 9, 2003 Dark brown coloued with a slight opaque quality. Nice tan head that remains for a long while. Nice malt smell, with hints of spice...but still smells somewhat sweet! Medium-bodied with a malt hit and then off to some nice 'roasty' flavours. A good all-around beer for winter-time!
