Pours a dark brown with red highlights when held to the light and a creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, rock candy sugar and chocolate, and a bit of white grape juice scent. Very interesting smell overall. The flavour found spices, coffee, dark chocolate, and some roast to it. Medium body with a coffee aftertaste.

(Rating #2195)

In short: A basic sweet malted and slightly woody ale. A bit approximate-amateurish yet also rather pleasant
How: Bottles, tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Almost clear amber body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose of toasted bread and some woody hops. Taste has the sweet malt upfront with a pie crust character followed by toasted bread with caramel, dry wood, some unexpected milk chocolate and everything ends with a decent amount of leafy hops. The beer feels imprecise, a bit off even, yet I found it inexplicably very drinkable. One of those little pleasure that cannot justify, like smelling the paper after whipping my ass.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Taste is light hops, spices, and malt with an earthy undertone. Has a slight astringent, dry finish.

12 oz bottle purchased at Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Poured a dark brown color, kind of like a coke, with a two finger tan head. The aroma nuts and sweet malt. The flavor is heavy with caramel and toasted bread. The palate was average, with a medium/full body, mild carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. I was pleased with this beer.

Sweet and malt aroma. Heavy body, with some hop and leaf flavor. Some caramel and fruit. Nothing big to stand out from this beer.

A simple, but rather effective aspiring winter warmer that remains simple enough, but works with thickish, bready malts. heavy bodied, honeyed flavours. Woodsy, mildly hoppy and leafy conclusion manages to cut through the caramel toastiness with efficiency. Not captivating, but a competent ale.
