COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How about a big, malty beer that evokes a good red wine and with a drier finish than you’d expect at 10.5% ABV? Eschaton is a one-of-a-kind oaked all-malt Quadrupel (or “Belgian Strong Dark” if you prefer) that abounds with dark fruit and pit fruit flavors as well as earthy spiciness. Vanilla oak and warm viniferous notes assert themselves as the beer warms to reveal additional layers of delicious complexity. Eric’s suggested food pairings: Lamb, rabbit, duck, Stilton cheese, Belgian chocolate, tart fruit desserts.

Taste from a 32oz growler. Mostly hazy amber orange color. Thin ring of minimal white head. Couple fine dots of lace. Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy. Light warmth. Caramel malt, some butterscotch. Bigger dark fruit. Nice aroma to this. Good longer dark fruit aftertaste. Solid, american style quad. Kind of smooth and creamy, texture is way different from american examples. But I like this. Good stuff.

Pours dark ruby with a thin filmy head. Aroma is sweet with notes of wild cherry. Flavor evokes more sweet cherry with light malts. Very satisfying sipping beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at ATL taco Mac. Pours a hazy deep dark orangish amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of dark fruit with spices, a bit of dark grain and a hint of backing alcohol. Flavor has dark fruits and grains with a hint of spice and a good amount of alcohol in the finish.

Growler from The Beer Growler. Pours dark brown, little to no head. Full-bodied, good mouth feel. Lots of dark fruit (raisin, prune, etc) gives the beer a lot of sweetness, also molasses, brown sugar. Slight vinous quality. Just a tad boozy, but not bad for such a big beer. Finish is a little bready. Very tasty, if not something that I could drink lots of in one sitting.

Growler from Hop City Atlanta. Pours dark brown with bubbly carbonation on the glass and a small tan head. Smoky, malty nose with a hint of spiciness. Taste is very sweet with a malty richness and a background of chocolate and spiciness. Alcohol is present but not overwhelming. A bit sticky and gooey-but in a good way. One of better American quads I’ve had.

16oz Growler from Beverage World. Served at around 50F.

Pours dark reddish brown with a very small head, recedes to just a tiny ring and leaves a few spots of lacing.

Aroma is oaky, vinous, bready, a lot of dark fruit, figs, plums. Good to very good strength.

Flavor features tons of really rich dark fruits, oak, vinous notes, bready & yeasty, rather sweet, alcohol is REALLY well hidden for 10.5% ABV. Very rich, tons of flavor.

Mouthfeel is medium-plus bodied, a bit sticky, low carbonation.

Nice, complex Quad. The Pinot Noir oak adds a nice dimension. Only real faults are the lack of carbonation and a sometimes high level of sweetness.

Growler fill from Hop City. Reddish brown pour, light tan head. Flavors of red wine, dates, brown sugar, raisins, oak, some vanilla peeks through. Good stuff.

Pours an opaque reddish brown on tap with big fluffy tan head that leaves good lace. Aroma of Belgian yeast up front, hints of dark fruit and musky grape, banana esters. Taste follows, heavy on the Belgian not on the wood, no hint of the booze. Thicker mouth and soft carbonation, pretty nice.

Growler shared by Destructo. Clear light brown pour with a white head. Light fruit and caramel notes. Light in body. Clean and straight forward. Nice.
