Imperial Brown Ale
What could possibly be better than the combination of deep roasted malts, coffee, oak, and a smooth, creamy finish?

Ode To Mercy overflows with bold flavors woven into a very balanced and approachable beer that finishes with creamy lingering hints of oak, coffee (specially blended by Athens, GAís 1000 Faces), and roasted goodness. Bright citrus hops peek through from time to time, adding additional layers of complexity.

Suggested food pairings: Barbecued chicken, Kielbasa, prime rib, cheesecake, English Cheddar Cheese, pate, and Munster cheese. 20SRM

Note: Formerly brewed at Thomas Creek.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2011 On tap at Trappeze pub in Athens, GA. Great beer from a unique upstart brewery. Complex malt profile. Coffee notes are present but not overpowering. Hops finish strong but are well balanced.

This was probably one of the best brown ales Iíve ever enjoyed. Tasty and balanced and you donít taste the booze. Enjoyable brown ale.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Very nice malt aroma Appearance- Pours a reddish brown with a small tan colored head. Taste- A very nice roasted malt flavor, very impressive. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation, has a creamy texture that matches the flavor perfectly Overall- My first Wild Heaven beer, if this is any indication of their other brands they have a good thing going.

Pours dark red with a quick tannish head. Nose is coffee and a touch of wood and hops. Flavor brings the coffee-and-cream fullness out fast but quickly fades to a fairly thin finish with a little bit of oak/earthy notes. Surprisingly gentle on the palate, and not necessarily in a good way. Hides alcohol well. Decent but forgettable.

12oz bottle, purchased 2/23/15 from Habersham in Savannah. Bottled 2/2015. Very dark brown, near-black color. Good finger of tan head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Nice coffee, roast malt, chocolate in the aroma. Big nuttiness, toasty. Touch of caramel and dark fruit. Cocoa nib. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, sort of crisp lighter carbonation, kinda tingly. Light slick body, then a touch dry in the finish. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Sort of creamy. Solid imperial brown. Hides the alcohol alright, aside from a bigger body. Not too sweet, good balance to the taste. Great to enjoy with my sandwich.

Bottle. Somewhat murky brown pour with a smaller white head. Great aroma and taste of coffee, sweet cream, and mild roasted malt. Not sure Iím picking up the oak, but it may be that the coffee is covering it up. Nonetheless - brown ale? Excellent example of the style.

Bottle while at Max Lagerís in Atlanta. Pours dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma of piney hops, roasty malts, some interesting spice notes. Flavor is rather in your face with big hop bitterness, lots of roast, and what tastes almost like chili spice. Very interesting and unique. Medium body, pretty easy drinking for nearly 9%. Overall a brew worth trying.

Dark brown, heavy aroma of coffee/chocolate, smooth hint of oak, no trace of alcohol, with a thick & silky mouthfeel from the lactose. My absolute favorite brown ale.

Bottle @ home, thanks to jcnielsen. Pours a deep reddish orange appearance with a light brown head. Toasted malt, biscuit, caramel, grass, and some herbal bitterness in the nose. Medium body. Some nutty flavors with caramel and bread. A little too bitter. Ehh.

bottle @ Habersham Beverage / Savannah GA --- Clear amber brown color, 1/2" ivory head, a few dots of lace. Taste is strong oakey caramel malt with carbonation and a bittered finish. Strong in a bitter-edgy way that doesnít suit my palate very well. Okay, but not a lot of appeal.
