COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American hopped IPA brewed in the fashion which the beer Gods had intended. This is your BIGGEST ALE. You will first be struck by the very strong hop nose. Then you take the first sip to find huge hops and malt that create a spectacular teeter totter of balance. Definitely the IPA you have always dreamed of but never found in your waking state til now! Yowzah!!! Are you down with the Diggity?

Poured hazy yellow with a little head. Nice citrus aromas, with grapefruit persisting thru the middle. Perfect bitterness for an IPA in my opinion. Light tang and bitter finish.

Served in a sampler glass at Wild Mtn. Pours a slightly cloudy copper with a small amount of white head that reduces to thin cap that lasts. Nice lacing. Fruity sweet up front, fading into a moderate hop bitterness that lingers. Moderate carbonation and slightly astringent finish. Could be hoppier, but overall a pretty good IPA. Definitely worth trying if you make it to Wild Mountain.

Deep amber with orange highlights and a white head. Lots of citrus (grapefruit, orange) in the aroma, along with pine, floral and earthy notes. The taste was citrusy with a mild bitterness and some simple balancing malts. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated and slightly dry. Not bad.

Draft. Deep amber with orange highlights. Frothy white head, mostly diminishing. The aroma displays notes of toasted grain resin, pine and a bit of orange. The flavor is lightly to moderately bitter and lightly sweet. The finish is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. The way the malts are used in this IPA reminded me in some way of Alpha King which can be husky and chewy like this IPA. But Hop Diggity is not near as complex or as well balanced as Alpha King. The husky malts get muddled up with the earthy, green hops. Not very clean, but at least it is not overly thin.

Pours hazy orange with a decent off-white head. Citrus hops on the nose, flavor brings an astringence that I’m really not big on. Lots of hops (acerbic, citrus rind), but a bit boozy, too. Not enough body to hold up that much alcohol.

Tap @ brewpub. Hazy amber color, short head. Aroma of loads of grapefruit, some pine. Citrussy taste, grapefruit. Quite bitter. Decent.

Unfiltered amber orange with a sticky cobweb white head. Nose is fresh and musty fruit, some crackers and nuts and a note of day-old orange peel, along with a pine wood and corn husk aroma, light on the floral aromatics, but decent enough for a greenish wood and nut centered hop aroma. Body is medium full, decent heft, decent frothiness. Flavor is centennial and chinook-like: somewhat musty, some old fruit and nuts, moderately bitter, moderately aggressive. Flavorful and easy to drink. No major brewing flaws (I think they’ve improved in this area).

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2008 Sweet initial flavor, then a rush of very bitter hops, ends suddenly. Wonderful finish. Not as bitter as one would hope.

Draught at the brewery. FDGD 08. Beer is slightly cloudy, medium brown. Head is small white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing, ultimately lasting as a skim.
The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain, cookie; Hoppy with a moderate-to-heavy note of resin/pine, dried apricot, light herbal note; Yeasty with a trace of basement.
The flavor is heavily (almost abusively) bitter, light-to-moderately sweet, lightly-to-moderately acidic with long, moderately bitter finish. Again, that dull, ringing, lingering dirty penny-like bitterness clings to the palate for a long time in the aftertaste.
