3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Wild Mountain. Pours a dark brown with one finger of tan head. Nice lacing and decent retention, settling to a thin cap of foam. Smells nutty and malty, hints of oats. Flavor is nutty, roasted oatmeal, roasted malts, and a hints of coffee. Mild to moderate carbonation and a slightly astringent finish. Could be bolder and richer, especially on the oatmeal flavor, but not a bad stout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pint at the brewery. Hard to guess that this is an oatmeal stout not told in advance. Heavy roast in the nose comes across like dark roast coffee, with a greenness, a note of dark, charred overripe plums, and a crunchy sort of granola smell and flavor - I guess that’s the oatmeal. Moderate astringency and typically weak body - seen in nearly everything from this brewery - take away from what would otherwise be a fairly nice straightforward hearty stout.

Draught at the brewery. FDGD 08. Beer is very dark brown. Head is small, tan, creamy/frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing, ultimately lasting. Specks of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is malty with light notes of roasted grain, cooked oatmeal, coffee; Hoppy with trace pine/resin notes; Yeasty with a light note of dough.
The flavor is moderately acidic, moderately bitter, lightly sweet with a long, moderately-to-heavily, repellingly acidic finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
