A thirst quenching unfiltered German wheat beer. Accented with hints of banana and cloves.

On tap at Onion. Poured a slightly-hazy paler golden with a short white head. Aroma picked up sweet bubble gum and well-toasted bananas.. sweet overall with very nice balance to it.. seductive. The flavor backed up the nose well.. sweet toasty candied bananas with a bit of bubblegum in there.. sweet and tasty all around. Nice interplay between the very sweet base and the tart wheaty notes.. well-carbonated. Very good stuff!

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2005 Interesting naming. I had this at the brewpub. It poured a hazy yellow with a billowy white head. The aroma was fairly faint, a light yeasty fruitiness, pear-like, with a whiff of lemon grass. It’s got a light spritzy mouthfeel. The overwhelming flavor is of bubblegum with a mere smattering of banana on the finish. Sadly, no trace of cloves or other spiciness. Still, a decent thirst quencher.

This draft brew from the brew pub poured a head of finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy uncarbonated yellow-orange colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was malty wheat and banana. . The flavor contained notes of malt banana dough and yeast. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Hazy gold color with no head. Strong banana and wheat aroma. Very heavy and rich wheat taste. Strong malt base with a slight finish of banana. If I had tried this blindfolded, I would have guessed it to be a dunkelweiss.

Sample at the brewpub. Everlasting thick foam atop an opaque lemon-gold body and thickly coating the glass as it disappears....simple but quite effective banana-clove nose, heavier on the fruit than spice but very very fresh and ripe...delightly full, soft body becomes more pillowy, soft and inviting with every sip....moderate but significant yeast and lively carbonation, delicate fruity flavor adn a hint of marzipan....though fairly typical in its profile, this is superbly done in every way and may well be my favorite American brewpub hefe; odd that the ratings are so split here, I’m certainly with the lovers. Splendid.

Dense golden/sand colored with a white ring for a head. Aromas were big and spicy with allspice, whole cloves and incense. (They’re using an aswesome yeast for this and their dunkel weiss which held similar aromas.) A touch of new leather or rubber in aroma as well. Flavor was mellow with a spiced, smoked ending, and bananas that sneak up on you (the last time a banana snuck up on me was in a dream featuring Christopher Walken and a penguin that spoke French... but I digress). Dry & creamy mouthfeel. This was a big treat in the line-up. I’m not a hefe-drinker, but this may be my highest ranked one to date. I enjoyed it so much that I brought home a growler and my wife really enjoyed it as well (SHE’s the hefe-drinker).

Semi-translucent pale orange with a white rung for the head. Aroma is bananas, linen spray, cloves and lively pepper. Creamy then rapidly thinning banana effervescence is the initial impression. Cloves and pepper help to liven a vanilla sweetening that presents itself midway through the tasting. Lemon sugar cream sweetness. Fairly well done.

Very hazy dull orange body. Banana and sharp clove in the aroma. Huskiness in the flavor accompanied by orage, wheat malt and clove. A nice hefe but the astringency is a problem.
