Hoppy aroma. Slight citrus flavor with a bit of spice leading to a bitter and hoppy finish. Not bad from a can.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz can from Armanetti’s. Pours a cloudy, amber-orange colored body with a finger-width, frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big florals and slightly candied grapefruit pines with a sweeter caramel malt backing. Some breadiness to the malts with a touch of syrup as well as some pineapple. Flavor is slightly sticky sweet up front with a good amount of caramel and some breadiness. Lots of grapefruit and orange florals, candied pines, a light pineapple, and a touch of toast. Finishes dry, sweet, and resiny with a medium-high bitterness and some candied citrus-grapefruits. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a well hopped, slightly sweet DIPA that hides the alcohol well and stays balanced. Just a touch too sweet for me, but not bad.

On tap at the Depot Tavern, nice head, cloudy yellow gold color. Hops and malts tangle, hops win! But the overall experience is off balance and needs to be dialed in. Great potential.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Turbid, very opaque orangu copper colored with fluffy, uniform 3-finger off-white head.
Nose: Delicious, this aroma is juicy and wet, super hoppy, with big tropical fruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple, piney hops, black pepper, mild funk. Wonderful aroma.
Taste: Earthy, slightly funky caramel malt, resiny hops, tropical fruit, semi-sweet.
Palate: Fairly dense, high level of complexity, very fresh and juicy and flavorful. I love these Onion beers, and I love seeing great beers continue to pour out of cans.

12oz can 12/13/11 (Courtesy of TerryR)-44° in Snifter-Pours a cloudy orangish amber with a stwo finger loose tan head. Aroma of hops, citrus, malt, and more hops. Taste of hops, malt, citrus, and more hops. This full bodied brew is pretty darn tasty and seems to be pretty well balanced.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask pour at Jake Melnick’s Charity Event (Chicago, IL). Pours a well hazed darker amber pour, some fire on the edges, with a small frothy head that dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are a healthy citrusy grapefruit, rushes of lemon and florals, some grass, very fruity grapefruit dominated nose with touches of biscuits, pale malts, bread. A bit sticky. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, offering a decent (fairly strong for a cask) bitterness up front and grapefruit, lemons come into the fold with florals, grass, touches of pale malts, bread, touch of toast hits the middle. Overall, the grapefruit element grows slowly into the finish, ending with a decent to stronger bitterness, dry and inviting on a lighter bodied beer. Grapefruit is the theme here, albeit not overpowering, just a bit of a simple hop profile. Finish is a touch thin, with some decent bitterness and lingering hops. Dry and grapefruit dominated. I enjoyed it, it was fresh, albeit the cask probabkly quashed some of the strength here. Pretty nice.
