COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An intense Double IPA brewed for the "hopheads" of the world. This robust ale is so full of malt and hops that you can almost chew on it. Served in a snifter to bring out all of the nuances of malt, hop, and alcohol.

12oz unlabeled can. Pours a cloudy amber color with an off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, grapefruit. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, with a light bitter hop finish. Hop flavor is a little understated for a DIPA, but not terrible.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 [100th DIPA rating] Pours a cloudy orange with a big fluffy sticky white head. Aroma might be the best part of this beer, sweet rich resiny and piney, candied hops. Flavor follows, bit thin and watery in body, quite sweet, sugary candied piney hops, medium amounts of tropical fruit, just overall sugary, hides alcohol well though.

12oz can nice design. Pours hazy dark orange with off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, caramel malts, and somewhat fresh hops. Flavor of grapefruit, some pine, bitter hops, little bit of sweet maltyness, and some soap. Has a nice hops bitterness and malt backbone. Solid DIPA.

Got a can of this from Honkeybra. Pours a very murky dark orange. Hops, dishsoap, and some sweet malt on the nose. Honkeybra’s review mentions onion, and I might smell it, but I probably wouldn’t if I hadn’t read that. Decent flavor, but it’s more malt-heavy than hop-heavy. I prefer hop-heavy. Drinkable.

12 oz can. Pours an opaque burnt orange with a sticky white head. Aroma of pungent, earthy hops, with strong herb, onion, some citrus and pineapple. There are a few notes of caramel and toffee. Flavor is pretty bitter along with a decent caramel/toffee sweet malt billing. There are tropical fruit notes, specifically focusing on on pineapple and maraschino cherry. This is full-bodied, slightly below average carbonation. Finishes on a slightly alcoholic citrus note. This is decent but nothing special.

I got a four pack of cans of this at Binny’s. It is a very cloudy orange beer w/ a foamy, large-bubbled head. The hops in the nose are strong enough that I’m catching a waft of them from a few feet away on the table--a very good sign. They are a nice and fruity variety, perhaps some Simco or Amarillo involved. Flavor is a touch on the watery side and just slightly lacking in bitterness w/ a bit of alcohol burn. Probably this could deal w/ a lighter texture and maybe more vigorous carbonation to booth. This is one of those beers that starts well and just doesn’t follow through. Bonus points for the can though which features a skeleton riding in a low rider w/ a hood proclaiming, "Viva El Lupulo!"

Had at the brewpub. Pretty decent Imperial IPA. However it does stay on the safer side. Not a hop bomb and not extra malty. I enjoyed it for its drink-ability. Rather orange-y color and cloudy. Serving: Tap
