Taster at the Blarney Stone’s Solstice Fest, Oak Forest. Cloudy amber color with a fruity hop smell. Simply tastes quite full of IPA goodness, but also plenty of malts to make for a pleasing balance. Lots of pine and a bit of apricot in the hop palate.

Draft at source. Nose is light caramels with some citrus hop notes. Less hop forward than the IPA. Maybe it’s just a touch older? Taste is moderately bitter with a huge sweet caramel backbone and a tingly pepper in the finish. Meh

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma - oiled up pungent hops. Rich caramel malt.
Appearance - cloudy burnt orange body. The head is a beige color and around 1", and foamy. Nice lacing.
Taste - rich caramel malt, slight wood, some spice. Pungent hops abound. The balance is impeccable.
Palate - medium body, slight oil, soft carbonation, slight woody bitters.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Nose of thin caramel malt, pours pale orange leaning into ruby, supports a thick and rocky beige head. Surprisingly little hop aroma. Taste strongly bitter but soft, a medium body seemingly lighter with cleansing, soapy qualities, medium alcohol but no burn. Hops are here but subdued, generic without heavy citrus. Crystal, galssine sheen for the feel, picks up sweetness with volume but its very mild sugariness never cloys. Earthy, light caramel comes in waves, probably the most interesting flavor here. Amazed at how soft and rounded this is, like the clean chewiness without any grit, but kinda miss the classic hops. [2015.12.25: 3.3]

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. can pours a cloudy amber/orange color with 2 finger off-white head that vanishes quickly but leaves good lacing. Aroma is all about the malts. Taste is sweet at first, before a boozy and bitter finish with a bit of piney hops and mint . Body is medium to full with average carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. As others have mentioned, this seems closer to a barleywine than a DIPA.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Barleywine, heavily kilned caramel malt nose, c120. Not my thing. Looking for a lighter body, more hop presence. Abv too low for how much malt character. Not a great representation of an 8% DIPA.

I agree with Underdogs88 that this beer looks, smells and tastes like an American barleywine, but I’m not going to dock it any points for that. It has either been categorized wrong, or it is a very malty DIPA. Either way, I liked it. Smells of caramel, brown sugar and some hops, but not much. Very pretty light brown/dark orange color with a small bone white head. Tastes malty, sweet and boozy with a bit of a hop bite afterwards which continues into the aftertaste. Very nice mouthfeel, palatewould be a 5 if it were less carbonated. This was enjoyable, whatever it is.

Very nice fresh hop aroma. The taste is ok with a sweet malt base and some citrus. Decent for a warm evening.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a can, cloudy, dirty orange with a big sudsy pale yellow head. Aroma is grassy with some citrus and malt. Flavor is malty, a hint of orange. This has a nice creamy feel. I’ll buy this one again.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
American barleywine like aroma. Appearance is a cloudy orange color with an offwhite head. Flavor again is more like an American barleywine than a DIPA. Mouthfeel is medium high with medium low carbonation. Overall, this beer is an American barleywine not a DIPA. The beer also tastes old and oxidized.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Grabbed a 4-pack of cans while in St. Louis this week. Pours a dark, cloudy amber-orange with a tall two finger off white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma of dank citrus hops, caramel malts, grass and pine. Taste is big on the dank citrus hops that are evenly balanced with big caramel malts. Fair amount of boozy alcohol on the backend as well. Getting more of the citrus and hop resin in the finish. Medium to full body, sticky texture, average carbonation. Overall a very good DIPA. Nothing really that makes it stand out from other DIPAs out there, but still quite tasty and well done!
