3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Indra (2482) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUN 10, 2013
12oz. can. Aroma of chocolate and roasty malt, some faint cola and mild coffee in the background. Brown-black in color, not completely opaque though can-conditioned, with a fine, lasting, khaki head. Flavor profile is gently sweet, roasty, slightly tangy and chocolatey, with some definite toasted grain oatmeal overtones and a lightly coffeeish, lightly hoppy finish. Fairly dry and light in effervescence on the palate, perhaps a tad watery for the style, but making this easy to quaff, and with a medium body. I liked this but wasn’t blown away. It’s just a typical Stout, nothing too memorable about it, I suppose.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jkwood04 (2407) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 9, 2013
12oz can in an English pint. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of light roasted malts, some chocolate and oatmeal, dough, and light hops. Flavor the same, tasting sort of watered-down. Average texture. Not great.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ccex (826) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 8, 2013
12 oz. can pours almost black with a moderate tan head and a bit of lacing. Aroma has licorice, coffee, caramel and roasted malts. Body is only medium, with flat carbonation. Mouthfeel is oily and slightly creamy. Taste is slightly sweet and malty all the way through. Not bad at all, but it would be better if it were thicker.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 EtTuCthulhu (464) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - MAR 26, 2013
This beer pours black with a small off-white head, and the aroma smells like roasted malts, caramel, and a touch of vanilla. The taste is slightly bitter, slightly umami, and mildly sweet; the palate combines an oily texture, medium-full body, flat carbonation, and a long finish.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 auerbrau (2989) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - MAR 17, 2013
12oz Can. Why did I buy this? I don’t know? It was a stout in a can I’d never heard of I guess. I certainly wasn’t disappointed, but I’m not sure I really needed a mediocre stout/porter from Illinois. Some roast in the nose, followed by light cola stoutness. Clean, drinkable, good water profile. Otherwise, un-notable, but certainly not offensive. Maybe a little light for a sweet stout.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kaser (1125) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Poured from a can at Emerson’s. jet black with brown head. Nutty malty and mild hops taste. Pretty good
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 DesertDevil (220) - Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2013
12-oz. can. A very dark brown color with thin tan lacing. More roasted malt than coffee on the nose with some espresso and cocoa. Sweet forward with caramel, espresso, and maple syrup, with a light maltiness at the end. Light body with a slightly gritty finish. Meh.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheAlum (4359) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - FEB 3, 2013
12 oz can from the Binnys Singles Rack (Bolingbrook, IL). A deep dark black brown pour, good haziness but not opaque. Brownish glow and copper on the edges. A frothy offwhite head atop dies to a small ring and laces small. Aromas are lots of cocoa and oatmeal, gentle sweetness, growing roast as it warms. Bakers chocolate, caramel, smooth touches of vanilla and cream. Mellow sweetness grows, integrates well. Gentle coffee, toast and roast. Initial is medium bodied, cocoa and toffee, gentle oatmeal sweetness, grainy and biscuits. Smooth intermixed bakers chocolate bitter elements and sweet caramel, some toffee, toast. Mellow dryness as a bit of body shows into the middle. A touch of toasty roast into the middle, but pretty inviting and accomodating. Backend shows dryness, roast, and oatmeal. A bit of creaminess to the body and palate, some darkness. Finish is A bit thin and fleeting but the flavors are on. A more approachable sweet stout that doesn’t run to lactose to get it there. Pretty solid Chicagoland offering that may easily be overlooked. A touch more body would elevate it, but it’s quite drinkable and approachable. Solid. Firm bitterness into the backend grabs me a bit and wins it an extra point giving this particular beer some versatility. A touch more body and this could be special.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GranvilleTim (1254) - Granville, Illinois, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Black pour with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, some sweetness. Taste is roasted malt, maybe some black patent. Light sweet aftertaste. Ok beer, nothing sticks out. Little watery in the finish.
