Commercial Description:
As deep and dark as the Moscow Nights and strong enough to warm the Czar's tootsies even in January! Based on an 1880 Whitbread Triple Stout recipe - the era when British brewers were in hot competition to sell strong beers to the countries of Northern Europe.

Bottle. This was good, and quite surprising. Have to admit i wasn’t expecting much, but what i got was a very solid balanced imperial. Bitter chocolate and roasted malt, solid is a good word for this beer.

Draught at the Wild River Pizza, Brookings. Near black, small beige head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Sweetish with rounded mouthfeel. There’s spicy hops and a concentrated chocolate/toffee flavuor. The finish has some salty bitterness. A pretty good, well balanced beer.

Bottled. Nice hopping on this stout, something I have come to appreciate. Good medium body. Chocolate sweetness. Bitter finish. Good.

The aroma holds cocoa, toffee, chocolate, white cake, butterscotch, lactose and vanilla cream. Leans toward the sweet side, but I like it. The body is full on black and holds a two finger thick mocha head that is creamy and lasting. Sweet whipped chocolate, cocoa, sweet cream, roast/burnt bitter malts, dark fruit and fudge. Finishes with a bit of licorice/treacle and burnt molasses. Ok it’s got a bit of diacetyl, but I guess I am a dumbass, because I utterly fail to see why this beer is rated a 57 overall percentile. This is damn tasty.
