duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jun 14, 2004 Bottle. This was good, and quite surprising. Have to admit i wasn’t expecting much, but what i got was a very solid balanced imperial. Bitter chocolate and roasted malt, solid is a good word for this beer. motelpogo (4334), Plzen, Czech Republic Nov 20, 2004 bottle at perkeo’s gathering. way better than any of the other wild river offerings. big chocolatey aroma, some nice chocolate cream flavours with hints of vanilla ice cream. plenty of bitterness, not very complex but tasty omhper (11027), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 17, 2006 Draught at the Wild River Pizza, Brookings. Near black, small beige head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Sweetish with rounded mouthfeel. There’s spicy hops and a concentrated chocolate/toffee flavuor. The finish has some salty bitterness. A pretty good, well balanced beer. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA May 22, 2004 Bottled. Nice hopping on this stout, something I have come to appreciate. Good medium body. Chocolate sweetness. Bitter finish. Good. Retorp (2156), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 The aroma holds cocoa, toffee, chocolate, white cake, butterscotch, lactose and vanilla cream. Leans toward the sweet side, but I like it. The body is full on black and holds a two finger thick mocha head that is creamy and lasting. Sweet whipped chocolate, cocoa, sweet cream, roast/burnt bitter malts, dark fruit and fudge. Finishes with a bit of licorice/treacle and burnt molasses. Ok it’s got a bit of diacetyl, but I guess I am a dumbass, because I utterly fail to see why this beer is rated a 57 overall percentile. This is damn tasty.
