COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the traditional beers brewed by Trappist Monks our Belgian Style Dubbel is a great way to ward off the Alberta winter chill. Reddish brown in colour with a rich malty sweetness, this complex brew will have you noticing new flavours with each sip! Brewed using the best Alberta-grown malted barley as a base - this beer is enhanced with a blend of three specialty malts that provide sweet notes of raisin and plum. On the tongue it is rich and malty with a nice balance of clove-like spice from the Belgian yeast used in fermentation. Full of flavour, this delicious brew is deceptively light on the palate. Enjoy one today!

Thanks to Riemer for this. Aroma is sweet rich malts, raisins and alcohol. Taste is nicely complex of barley, a little alcohol, yeast and small spices. Great beer.

Draft at the Ship and Anchor. Found this review in the pocket of a coat I havenít worn in months. this review must be from January or February I think... Pours cloudy red, like an especially dark glass of grapefruit juice. 1-finger cream-coloured head, soft lacing. Nose is spicy - cardamom, pepper, berries, some generic red fruit as well. Flavours of creamy fruit, estery yeast, light spice. Nice Dubbel, not anything to go screaming about, but a nice on-style brew.

Pours amber-brown, with a generous and off-white head. Aroma is full of toffee, spice, bread, and alcohol. The taste is complex with spice, heavy caramel, bread, and dark fruits. Moderate carbonation right on for my preference. This is a very nice take on the style from an Alberta brewery and exceeded my expectations. It isnít often we get a really well brewed Belgian style from close to home.

Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liqour in Calgary, AB on 02/05/2012. Colour: Medium brown with just slightly off-white medium head. Nose: Chocolate fountain, oak, almond, burning wood, candle wax. Quite enticing. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. Light toffee flutters. Mocha dominant in the middle. Finish is ashy and displays hints of tobacco. Very decent stuff.

A non-flip top big bottle special release from Wild Rose?! ...and itís a Belgian style? WHAAAAT? Pours a medium amber with golden highlights and big foamy head that shows good retention. Nice Demerara sugar sweetness, spicy yeast, and sultana and date flavours. A little warm in the finish, but thatís not a complaint! Thank you Wild Rose! Looking forward to future fun and tasty seasonals!

Anew bottle size nd style from Wild Rose! A new beer and direction? What could they do with space to match their ambition?! Dark copper with light lasting head. Rich spice and malt scent. Translates perfectly into the flavour. Does make me think more of Trappist versions than generic Dubbels. If anything it may be harmed by its freshness. Taty with that earthy spice and malt.

650ml brown bottle. Brown pour. A bit unclear. Thin whitish foam. Light malty nose, faint hint of chocolate, grains. Taste has some grains, chocolate malts/cocoa, light caramel. Light yeast note, some restrained spice. Faint hops in the finish, dryish. Good tight carbonation, body is medium. Mellow brew, nice expansion into Belgian territory for Wild Rose.

650ml bottle pours a dirty dark amber color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves only a few spots of lace on the glass. Aroma is slightly earthy with some dark fruit and spice. Taste is an earthy hop bitterness with some dark fruit and light roasted malty sweetness to balance things out. Very tasty beer, but deviates quite a bit from a traditional Belgian Dubbel, which is not necessarily bad. Enjoyable!

The Wild Rose Dubbel pours out a muddy brown with highlights of beautiful ruby red. The head is a thin cap of yellow tinted beige that leaves little lacing despite beautiful carbonation. The nose is sweet and malted nicely. A subtle hint of fig and prune laid among toffeed and caramel malts. There is a slight presence of alcohol on the nose as is common with this style. The taste is hearty and sweet in the middle with a big dark malt. Notes of raisins, plums, prunes and Belgian candy sugar. The finish is surprisingly light with a mild alcohol warmth and a hint of hop. A medium body with a beautiful smoothness whilst drinking. Overall, a fantastic experiment by Wild Rose.
