COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark ruby red-brown ale with a distinctive coffee-chocolate character. Don't let the dark color and robust flavor fool you--it's a medium bodied beer with a clean finish.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2012 Draft at the brewery taproom; Very, very dark brown with a thin resilient head. This is one of the best beer aromas Iíve experienced ... rich and sweet, almost chocolatey ... wow, this is also richly flavored. Subtley chocolatey. Full and malty with an excellent body. Only a light sweet bite (too many browns thurn out too sweet). I do believe this may be the best brown ale Iíve ever had! Donít get some of the other ratings here! (#2871, 5/13/2007)

This is best served on tap. Great brown ale with excellent dark clor and nutty flavour. Another great Calgary beer. One of my top picks for local brews.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2004 NB: MUST HAVE FRESH!! Albertaís premier draft session beer. No gimmicks, no honey just a good beer. Above average malt and mouth feel for the style. A little sweetness in the aftertaste as well. Could use a little more hops.

A: Poured out of the bottle with a very small, tan head, that diminished to a thin film very quickly. Body is dark brown, but clear. S: Nice aroma of roast malt coming through, and semisweet chocolate. T: Lots of semisweet chocolate in the taste, with the roasted coffee flavors coming through in the end. Slightly bitter finish. Average duration for the flavor... quite tasty. M: Light body with a minor-creamy texture leaning towards thin/oily, and soft carbonation. D: I thought this was a pretty good Brown ale. I continue to be quite impressed with the Wild Rose beers.

An excellent example of the style with low carbonation, thin creamy head, bitter chocolate, sour nose; coffee like, bitter chocolate, mildy nutty malty taste with a nice slightly sour finish

Mild spicy aroma. Body is hoppy and spicy, yet laid back and mellow. Quite a good and interesting brown ale.

Reddish brown in colour with a mostly diminishing thick frothy tan coloured head. Nutty, butterscotch, and slightly sour and winy aroma. Initial hint of caramel flavour, astringent coffee bitterness, and slightly nutty. Similar to recent experiences with Garrison Brown, but a bit more watery and thin.

Dark brown pour. Pretty roasted chocolaty aroma. Slightly bland taste but interesting none the less.

Chocolate color, darker than brown, with a tan head; roasty aroma with a hint of...lime? Likeable chocolatey flavor, balancing sweetness, wouldn't wanna drink this all night but it's a nice little beer, all most like a darker alt...in fact it reminds me a bit of Schell's Scmaltz's alt!

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2004 Saved this bottle from my Calgary trip it was bottled the day I bought it at the brewery and was about 3 weeks old when I cracked it...still nice and fresh but I assume this beer does not last long on the shelf. Poured a clear, deep red-chestnut color with a nice toffee colored frothy cap that laced out quickly. Delicate aromas of grassy hops caramel, cocoa and spices....very nice! Starts with a big whack of bitter-sweet nutty malts some evidence of spicy tang then the finish is mellow and light with a buttery after taste. Das smachts gut! The best offering from this brewer and arguably Calgaryís best drinking micro ale.
