COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark ruby red-brown ale with a distinctive coffee-chocolate character. Don't let the dark color and robust flavor fool you--it's a medium bodied beer with a clean finish.

(1 litre glass bottle) Poured a medium-sized, almond-coloured foamy head with a deep brown body. The nose definitely was of coffee-chocolate as per the description though I was not keen on the labelled-idea: "its the best brown in town... and we are so sure that if you try this ale and do not agree, we invite you to buy one of our other three beers." Wow... that is some guarantee!!! Well - I did not get DOWN WITH THE BROWN though I suspect that it may have spoiled since it was thin, watery and mildly soured.

Pours a clear reddish/dark brown with a nice frothy tan head that leaves some decent lace. Aroma is nutty, dark chocolate, light roasted malts, toffee and a mild coffee. Flavour is coffee, dark chocolate, a mild bitterness, roasted malts, and a mild sweetness. Very session-able beer.

Pours a clean brown color with a touch of ruby highlights and a pillowy, light tan head. Aroma has lot of brown malt, light toasted nose, some light chemical nose late. Flavor is not good. The brown malt mixes with something and produces a really gross chemical, acidity that hits first and last almost the entire tasting. Once it subsides, some light toasted bready and chocolate flavors seep in. Body is light with a low amount of carbonation and a bit of dryness too it. Overall a pretty bad beer in my opinion.

Tap @ the brewery. Not sure if it was actually this good but it really stood out after sampling their lighter beers. Complex taste is malty with bittersweet chocolate and an indistinct fruitiness.

Pours a clear dark brown with a ruby red hue and a light brown frothy head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and cocoa. Taste is chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee up front with a light bitterness on the finish. Body is light to light medium. Really sessionalble beer but overall is a bit thin for the style.

Malted, butty flavour, with hints of caramel stemming from a similar nose. Light palate. Tasty brown ale overall.

Pours a reddish brown with a bit of white head. Smell is mostly malty with a bit of a sour note, almost cherry. Palate is light to medium bodied and has fairly low carbonation. Taste is interesting, a bit sweet at first but then quickly going to some soft hoppy bitterness with a bit of sourness and a shorter bitter aftertaste. Interesting brew!

341ml bottle pours an amber brown color with a finger of off-white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is light chocolate and coffee with some herbal notes. Taste is chocolate malty sweetness with hints of coffee and a herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Light to medium bodied with some good carbonation leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate. Acceptable brew for the style but not spectacular.

Bottle thanks to my FIL: Poured a light brown with light tan head. Aroma is metal and coffee. Taste is sweet watery espresso coffee and nut.

It was okay for a Brown Ale. Nothing special. I did like the nose but it wasn’t as alive in the mouth as I would have hoped.

Dark brown, pretty clear, good off-white head and lace. Smell is malty, kind of sour. Tastes are vanilla, chocalte maltiness, and a bit of a sour finish. The mouthfeel was pretty full and creamy, went down smooth, had some good carbonation. I’d try this one again, but not spectacular.
