4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
The smell is sweet and and heavy, you get an inkling of the huge hop presence but it doesnít assult your nose. A hazy red/gold with lots of particulates, you can sort of see through it but not very clearly. The taste is nothing short of what I dream about when I think of an IPA. Ever since I had my first one of these (and didnít rate it!) I HAVE been dreaming about it! Itís too bad itís so rare, itís almost a shame to drink it. The hops flavour is balanced so well it doesnít make sense that you can taste that many IBUís and still have a clean palate by the time your done swallowing. If this could be a regular brewed beer, it might change the face of IPAís foreever.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2009 From 500ml swing top. Very deep amber colour, almost no head. Sweet fresh aroma, kind of fruity and sweet, reminds me of honey dew. Yet the aroma is still very floral. The flavor is great from start to finish. So fresh and so floral. The blend of these three hops is fantastic. The bitterness comes later and lingers for a very long time bringing more subtle flavors with it. But at the same time this beer is not overpowering like some IPAs can be. It is also 8.5%ABV, just like an IPA should be. This is a great beer. I feel very very lucky to have got one to my self.
After a few months to sit I must say that the wild rose imperial IPA is even better. Soo smooth and refreshing. Very hoppy great palate. It just keeps getting better. It is very well rounded Great beer.I have one left and I plan to give it more time. Canít wait to try it again.

500ml bottle from a trade with hobbersr. pours clear orange with a fluffy tan head. great retention and beautiful lacings. low carconation. american hop aroma, some honey comb, citrus,. great aroma but it could use some dry hopping. big pale malts up front, citrus hop middle and pine hop finish. the high IBUís show and you can tell some high AA hops were boiled for over 60min. this is a very good example of an IIPA. it actually reminds me quite a bit of hopslam. add more dryhopping and youve got a winner.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
500ml bottle. I was lucky enough to get one of the 84 bottles available tho the retail market. Purchased at Andrew Hilton in Lethbridge AB. Pours a clear copper colour with a nice one finger sized white head that laces to my glass the whole way to the bottom of my tulip glass. Aroma has pine, honey dew melon, citrus (lemon and grapefruit), resin, white pepper, and floral esters. Taste is sweet initially. Almost an iced tea herbal sweetness. Honey dew melon then comes through followed by some woodiness and brown sugar. Then the hops rear their head. Pine, resin, lemon, grapefruit, and pepper. Defiantly chinook hops with a hint of cascade. Mouth feel is a little heavy and sticky but it coats your mouth in a very pleasant way. Wish I could get more of this, but it was great while it lasted.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml flip-top bottle. Pours a clear, reddish amber with a thin peal head. Very aromatic, lots of pin and citrus. Taste: lots of citrus / pine hop flavours, more on the flavoring/aromatic side than on the bittering side, very impressive hop pallet for an IIPA, with a nice dry malt undertone. Warming mouthfeel. Finishes with a distinct hop grassiness. Extremely good, I wish this was a regular in six-packs ícause Iíde buy it a lot! Highly recommended!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A true Canadian brewed IIPA worthy of the name. Not a lot of balance here, but the hops are definitely enjoyable. A solid golden-brown pour with orange highlights and an off white head. Citrusy hops are the aroma of the day. The flavour is grapefruit hops with some biscuity malts. An excellent beer!

Just back from the Wild Rose tap room on the eve of the launch of this yearís Imperial IPA. A strong, forceful beer with HOPS!!! and CITRUS!!! Really nice, extra hoppy and enjoyable. The alcohol isnít noticeable... until you stand up.
For extra fun, if youíre in the tap room, ask for an Imperial James Brown.

Pours a brilliant copper with a dense quarter-finger head with decent retention. Aroma is lovely - sweet candy-malt and leafy, fresh hops. The taste is very, very green leafy hops. This beer is clearly very young - possibly dry hopped? Great sweet malt backbone, aftertaste dies away gradually - I wish it lasted longer. Creamy body, decent carbonation. This is a very green beer and needs to age. I will try and acquire another bottle to this end!
